We headed over to Bangrak Thai to pick up some take out today. The owner came out of the kitchen and let my wife know, with tears in her eyes, that they will be closing soon. We've been going there for as many years as they've been open.

Unfortunately, that space is questionable until the metro arrives. The restaurant ran the typical dying store protocol...prices increased, portions got smaller, and the hired help were indifferent to their guests. Sad to see them go but they did it to themselves.

That sucks, it was our go-to for Thai delivery. But now that I think about it, they had a pretty long run compared to most Thai restaurants in the area it seems.

In other news; anyone have a recommendation for Thai that delivers?

Thank goodness, if I want Thai food, all I gotta do is ask the wifey who is from Thailand......No need to order out. :)

They lost my business when I wet to use my Restaurant.com coupon that was 14 months old and they refused to take it. Confirmed on the coupon and during a phone call in the restaurant that there was no expiration date. They refused to accept it so never went back.

I think they just got overwhelmed. I used them there before, but the discounts are so cheap to buy I just think they saw too many. In that case, I would expect them to remove themselves from the program. Unfortunately, you can still buy coupons today, which is just the continuation of the problem.

Not sure I understand the need for this. Both the Lotte and Grand Mart (or whatever it's called now) cater to the Indian community.

There are an estimated 25,000 residents of Ashburn of Indian decent and growing, so it appears there is enough of a base to make this a go. Personally, the Lottte and Grand Mart don't cater to any community\ethic group. The 1-2 aisles dedicated to an ethnicity\region is just enough to keep the essentials in stock, but hardly more than that.

We should be pushing back against yet another grocery store in Ashburn! When I can drive to 10+ different stores in no more than 10 minutes in any direction, thats getting crazy!!

I am willing to bet Aldi will not do well and eventually close. Lidl I think is taking a big chunk of their business. But yea, I would agree that a south asian/Indian market would do well there considering the increasing demand. I will check it out for sure...
