    Hi,

I've been looking at the Verizon pricing sheet and I'm trying to figure out what the different TV offers actually cost. There has been some information here on the website but I'm still confused and looking for some help.

As I think I understand it, if we want Verizon TV service, we pick a package option from the price list.
If we want DVR service, we pick one of those and that includes a set-top box (or two); prices start at $24/month. If we don't want DVR, we need to get a set-top box for the first TV; priced at $12/month.
All other TVs need boxes that cost $12/month each. Is this correct?

Also, I think there are taxes and fees added on. About how much are they per month?

Are there other things I am missing?

    Thanks.

I have the Ultimate package and two boxes. Each box is a $12/month rental. I have a third box on the way to put in a third bedroom, and that will be an additional $6/month.

I also have the $30/month phone plan.

    So, my bill is $151.

    69.99 + 29.99 + 24.

There are always taxes and fees. Nearly $19 for the tv and $9 for the phone. Regional sports network fee is the largest of them. I also remember similar taxes and fees with OpenBand video.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still a little confused.

As I read the price sheet, DVR service is not included with service or box rentals but is an extra cost (although DVR service includes one or two boxes). So, you opted for no DVR features, right?

That is correct. The tv package i have has many on demand channels, and i also subscribe to Hulu. I figure DVR is a luxury I can go without.

There is no way I could live without DVR. I own my tivos so hopefully I can get a cable card for cheap. If not I'll be going all digital for TV. Openband offers the cable cards for almost nothing.

That's a great question. Does anyone know if cable cards are an option with Verizon? We also own our Tivo and would love to be able to keep using it.
To be honest, we have always been very happy with our OB services and I have concerns about being forced into a new contract and using Verizon.

I personally will be much happier when we are done with Openband and have reliable internet services from Verizon in place.

I'm curious about the same thing. I am very happy with my Tivo and really just want a card to stick in it so that nothing materially changes on my user interface side of this other than channel numbers.

I just scheduled my install on Saturday (Phase II). Cable card was a choice which I selected as I also have a TiVo. I'm hopeful that means all will go smoothly when they come this Saturday to install.

Also for anyone NOT into sports - There are two custom packages: "Action and Entertainment" and "Lifestyle and Reality" that don't have the sports network and as such avoid the ridiculous $7.78 "Regional Sports Network Fee"

My first bill is supposed to be $67.92. I selected "Custom TV Home & Family"($44.99) and a cable card ($4.99 a month). Taxes/Fees total: $17.94

Trying to understand the multiroom DVR option for $32.00/mo. I went to their website and it seems to be 100hrs and it works with up to 4 tv's? Is that right? Anyone knows if we need additional boxes for those tvs?

Yes. You pay for boxes... and pay for the type of eve service on top of that

Update: install went smoothly today. They were done in about 2 hours. TiVo has cablecard and TiVo mini multiroom units seem to be working fine. In fact the picture quality seems better and the Moca connection via coax Actually works now versus having it connected via Ethernet cable. Good luck everyone!

since it's clear we won't have our system connected by the june 1 date I went ahead and cancelled openband tv on friday. I bought one of these from amazon and stuck it in the attic

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024R4B5C/

so far I'm getting perfect reception on all of the major local channels and my tivo even works exactly the same. I was able to keep probably 85% of my setup recordings too. Mainly discovery, comedy central, bbc, and natgeo were what we lost. Might just keep it this way and not go for verizon tv.

WOW thanks for that info. I wish I could figure out how to do this ourselves, how easy is it? Our attic door is next to the openband box is that where it hooks to?

You need to be able to run a cable from the antenna to your video distribution panel in your basement. In some houses there is a conduit already there to do this, or you could possible install this outside your house and run the cable down and into the same point where Openband cables enter the house.

We have a conduit that goes to the basement and comes out right near the openband distro box. The conduit was right next to the attic access. I think I purchased a 100 foot coax cable and I have a lot of cable left over. As far as the hookup goes once you get the wire down to the basement (hardest part) just open up the openband box, remove the center coax from the openband splitter, and the connect the one from the attic to the one you removed. My tivo detected that I had removed the cable card and went into an auto setup and 20 minutes later everything was working again. Really was quite easy.

The antenna I bought does require you point it in the direction of the signal. For us we just point it at DC roughly. Mine is basically pointed directly east right now and have perfect signal. Didn't even need to adjust it. I am not using a signal booster either. Will see if one is needed when the weather gets bad.
