I've been noticing the beautiful white flowering trees lining the median in LoCo Pkwy between Waxpool Road & Gloucester Pkwy.
Does anyone know what trees they are? They are beautiful. Thanks.

Sorry for late response. They are Callary Pears (Bradford Pear is a type). While they are beautiful, they are non native and invasive - which is why you see them in all sizes all over vacant lots and around roadways. They can crowd out native hardwoods and are very prone to damage during storms (not very strong trees).

Hi, Dawne. Thanks for the reply. Since they're invasive, at least the ones in the median strip in LoCo Pkwy are contained. But, now that you mentioned it, the trees are all over the place, not just as uniform.

If you are looking for a white flowering tree a dogwood is really nice.
(There are also white blooming cherry trees that are not fruit producing)
Also, if you have any trees/shrubs be aware of the 2024 cicada arrival- best to put netting over them
    to protect from the cicadas.
