My wife and I just moved into a new townhome in Southern Walk and are looking for a good housecleaning service. We have found a great painter (Mark Lewis)and electrician (Ashburn Electric)through these bulletin boards and are now looking for good recommendations for housecleaning. Any information on pricing would be welcomed as well.

    Thanks!

Apparantly it's a crime to want accurate, up-to-date information. Another violation, thanks to the message board police.

I'd be interested to have some recent recommendations, as well. I previously used this message board to find a housecleaner, but was NOT pleased with the service.

Would you mind if I asked you who you used that you weren't happy with? We're thinking about this too and don't know where to begin...

Actually, I am now NOT SORRY that I posted this question about finding a good housecleaning service. The posts found upon searching are not as current as I would prefer.

And BRIM, you are very much on the record as thinking that hiring out a housecleaning service as "Crazy." Well, that may be, but I and my wife have used one in Alexandria before moving here and it was a joy to have that kind of help.

So, any recommendations for a good housecleaning service from somone that has had a positive experience, would be greatly appreciated.

Thats unwarranted...you spend your money on whatever helps you sleep at night, be it cars, televisions, or anonymous foreigners rummaging around your house while you're not there doing your dirty work.

Ok Brim, that's fine. I just want to get some recommendations for a housecleaning service that someone has had a positive experience with. That's all I'm asking for. I am not looking for a lecture and will not respond to one from here on.

    Many thanks.

Foreigners? Nice to see that Brim is providing some xenophobia to brighten up our day.

Golfnut -- I'll tell you, but I'd rather not announce it on this board. I can e-mail you privately.

Look, I tried to help by pointing you towards two previous discussions on the topic...you're the one that brought up my position on the matter. If you're not looking for a lecture or comment, don't fish for one by bringing up my opinions which are totally unrelated to your search for an indentured servant. Good luck!

I was simply curious as to why you felt compelled to list them as "foreign" strangers when you made your original post. Why not simply list them as "strangers" the first time?

Because they're typically foreigners making limited income, most of which they ship back to their homeland to either support family there or pay someone for getting them here (indenturement). ALl of this makes it really tempting for someone not used to the laws and social norms of our country to swipe something for a little extra cash. I'm not saying they all do this, but I'd rather not take the chance.

Look at it this way, these ppl are trying to support their family and children. If you weren't making enough money and your family was on the verge of starving or getting evicted, I guarantee you'd steal a loaf of bread if that's what it came down to.

    Sigh,

As a new Broadlands homeowner, I have found by looking at a number of these bulletin board posts, there are a few individuals who seem to pull the post off track. And I don't see why that has to be. Some posts are truly discussions, where people can air their differences. And on those I can understand things getting a little heated or personal. But some posts are simple requests for information from others who may have some good suggestions or ideas based on their own experience.

Why can't we honor those requests and just provide information as requested or read the posts and go elsewhere if you don't?

All I was hoping to find today, were some current recommendations for a housecleaning service in the Broadlands area. Ones that people had a positive experience with. I wasn't aware that I could have searched the BB for previously given information. But I found that when I did, it was not all that current.

So, does anyone have any good housecleaning service recommendations?

    Thanks!

By the way Brim, I never said I was looking for an indentured servant. In fact, I think it offensive to use that terminology and ask civily that you refrain from using it. I don't consider hiring a painter, or an electrician, or a cleaning service as using or looking for an indentured servant. And I doubt seriously that they see it that way either.

But hey, these are just our opinions. The only opinions I was looking for, was others who had a good experience with a housecleaning service. Any chance of keeping it at that?
