Just wondering what info. is there about the type of pesticides being used?... frequency of use, concentrations, etc. I noticed there are the signs warning children and pets. How long should we stay off the grass?

You can check with the HOA office, but I suspect they are using 2.4-D for dandilions and other broadleaf weeds.

You should stay off the grase for at least 24 hours. The signs should give you the information you need, as I believe that is a requirement.

Well I can say that I accidentally walked my dog thru that grass 2 days ago. I did not see any signs because they had already fallen to the ground when I walked by. I didn't notice them until we were walking out of the little park. To say I was conserned about my dog would be an understatement. I wish we would have had some sort of warning and the area really should have been taped off or something. Those signs are hard to see if your not looking for them and they have already fallen to the ground.

It was always my understanding that the chemicals stay on the grass until a good rain. I hate that they use pesticides but not much I can do about it.

FWIW ... if the treatment was over 24 hours, then there's not much to worry about. You're not going to pickup much (if any) residue from dry grass, and any rain washes off what remains.

Not sure when they laid it. I definitally don't remember seeing the signs the night before, but I did almost miss them all together the day I walked him through it. Yesterday on our walk I could still smell the pesticides. My allergies were acting up the day before and I could not smell. Had I smelled it I would not have walked him there. So far he seems fine though.

Pesticides is a term that encompasses both insecticides and herbicides. In this case, we are talking herbicides, and in the concentrations being used, should not affect animals.

Now, if you bathe in the stuff, different story !!
