Has anyone had problems w/ their A/C?

My A/C, fan, and heat will not turn on. The digital reading is still
there but I don't know why nothing is working.

I'm assuming nothing is under warranty still. Can
anyone recommend a good A/C repair company?

    Thanks.

I am going through the miserable situation right now of having our entire AC unit replaced. We've had no AC for the past 6 days. Random Swedes have been coming by, asking to use our upstairs area as a sauna.
When it initially went out, the AC was being shut off via the main circuit-breaker panel. We could flip this back on then, 2-3 times /day. We were told to keep flipping, and they'd replace a motor. However, about 2 weeks later, the whole thing shut-down and smoke was pouring out of the blower unit outside. Now it all needs to be replaced.
    So, anyway, good luck.
And I'm not going to give the name of the compnay that's supposed to be "fixing" ours, b/c I half blame them for what's going on now.
    Bitter? You betcha...

I can't believe any A/C company would tell you to 'keep switching the breaker on' if it kept tripping !! A breaker trip tells me that there is an overload in the system. If it was only the cooling fan that was going, that's very easily replaced, based on the fact that the entire unit needs to be replaced, it was the A/C compressor that was tripping the breaker, and should have been looked at and replaced when it started. From the sound of it; smoke, etc, the compressor basically burnt itself out from trying to run.

Was this under initial home warrantee, or was it out of warrantee and you called someone ??

It's all covered under our home warranty.
But we've been thrown out of our house now for 6 days, going on...

6 days so far to fix your ac. You got to be kidding and you should post who is doing the ac work. Unless they are unbelievably busy which is possible this time of year that is way too long.

If they told you to keep turning the breaker on several times a day they should be reported to every agency there is. The potential for a fire was enormous. You are very lucky. People don't even fathom how fast a fire can spread through a home. In the Regency there was a fire started by one of their children while everyone was home last winter and if you saw that home you just can not imagine how much damage there was just in a few minutes I was surprised it was not torn down it looked that bad instead of being rebuilt right now.

I lived in Santa Monica California during the Malibu fire and learned a lot just what a fire can do especially on that scale and how fast it can move.

Anyway I would report the company and the people that told you to turn on the breaker to the Loudoun county building dept the fire marshall the better business bureau. and of course you should get an explanation from the owner of the company first.
