Any new mom's groups in the area? My baby is 4 weeks today and i'm thinking of trying out the one at Loudoun Hospital but I'd like to see if there's something a little closer to home in Broadlands. Anyone know of any local groups?

I am part of the Broadlands area MOMS Club. They/we are quite active with lots of kid activities, playgroups, babysitting co-op and "Mom Nights Out".

While 4 weeks might be a bit young for some of the kids' activities, you will probably enjoy a lot of the other things that go on.

You are more than welcome to try us out at one of our monthly meetings or come to our Open House later this month. Feel free to email me directly (through this forum) if you'd like more information. I will be happy to give you a call and help you any way I can. I have personally really enjoyed being part of the group.

    Hi,

I had emailed to the MOM's Club sometimes back..(got email ID from the Broadlands' newsletter). I was told in return email they are full and can not accomodate any new members. Plus, I was also told about the "Fees". I am quite not sure how "receptive" the MOM's Club is...
I have a 3+ year old and would particularly be intersted in joining any such club in our area.

    Hi Ashley -

Not sure if the Mom's Club you mentioned and the one I belong to are the same. I don't believe we list an email contact in the newsletter, our dues are only $25/year and we are certainly not full. I will email you separately in a moment. Aimee

My advice would be to go to the new moms meeting at the hospital.
First of all, its all NEW moms--so you have alot in common and are going thru the same things at the same time. Bigger MOMs groups have people with all numbers and ages of children. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Larger MOMs groups are more social/play/activity driven. The hospital group is more about support during a challenging time. I went (reluctantly--just because I wanted to get out of the house) and ended up meeting 6 women who I formed a friendship with that still goes on today. Later on, you could join a community MOMs group, but for now, I'd say give the Loudoun one a shot. Two other benefits are that it is run by a nurse who can give lots of great, general advice about babycare and breastfeeding and the fact that no one there knows what the heck they are doing with their babies makes it a place where few people will tell you WHAT to do vs. WHAT they are trying with any given problem. Congrats on the new little one!!
