Does anyone know where to get good art supplies? I'm not talking Crayola. I'm talking nice sketch pads and pencils, etc. I want the stuff artists use. My daughter is great at this stuff and I'd like to get her some "real" stuff! If anyone has experience with good brands or bad, please let me know. I don't know much about it. Thanks!

AC Moore out on Rte 7 and Ashburn Village seems to have some good stuff! I've priced a few things and they seem to be less expensive than Michaels.

You could also try the new Art Store near Circuit City in Cascades.

Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! It's greatly appreciated. I'm mostly looking for drawing stuff...pencils, chalks, paper, etc. That seems to be her favorite thing to do. Maybe a nice easel. I can't picture the Circuit City in Cascades...where exactly is it at? Thanks again!

My brother does paintings and sketches for art shows in New York and DC and he gets all of his supplies at Michaels. I am not sure what brands he uses they seems to change to suit his needs but I do know that he is not a believer that the more expensive the better. According to him it is all about the feel of the pencils (ie how smoth they are on the paper) depending on what he is doing. Don't know if that helps but if you want more specifics email me and I will ask him for a recomendation

Strathmore drawing pads are great and are available at AC Moore. Many of the same supplies that art students are asked to use in class are available there. :)

Have a great week & stay warm!

I don't know if there are anymore left, but we bought a pretty cool easel and paint set from Sam's Club last week for our daughter. It was around $50 and comes with 3 canvases, some oils & acrylics and a palette- the easel is wooden and has 2 little drawers- it was a pretty good buy. It was not a "children's" looking easel either so she will be able to use it a long time (I hope!).
