Received this from Scott Bayles, who is our Neighborhood Watch Committee leader:

Please pass it on that if folks are not aware of this, we are
experiencing a rash of larcenies from open garages.
Please make all your folks aware! Please keep your Garage Doors
    CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please heed Sgt Davis's advice, not just during holidays but all year long.

Just a suggestion… We used to be guilty of leaving our garage doors open, then we bought a $30 garage keypad remote online. No wires to run and no remotes to carry.

If it is late in the evening and you notice, do not hesitate to let your neighbors know their garage is open.

    Better safe than sorry.

Sears sells a device that will remotely tell if your garage door is open or closed... you can put the receiver in your bedroom or something to be sure your door is closed before you go to bed, etc...

Several of these garage incidents occured when the perps accessed garage door openers from within unlocked cars.

Boy, you've got to have some pretty big cajones to go into an unlocked car and hit the garage door opener. They're lucky they weren't staring into the barrels of a 12 guage when the door went up.
