    Hello,
I am sorry if this has already been discussed. I was wondering if anybody had experience with LaPetite Academy in Ashburn, particulary for a pre-school level ?
I will really appreciate if you can share your experience with that facility, good or bad....

    Thanks...

We had our son at La Petit from infant (12 weeks) until we made it through the waitlist at Winwood when he was about 1.5 yrs old (we had about a 9 month waitlist at Winwood). We had no real complaints about the infant room, except the infants were left to sit more than they should have been.

We started having issues in the infant 2 room (where the kids were mobile). We arrived at opening time (6:30am) and they had all the kids of all ages in the middle of the school in a large open area. When our son became mobile, they used to try and confine him in a exersaucer so they didn't have to keep an eye on him. We put a stop to that, much to the teachers chagrin.

We also had issues with biting. Our son was the recipient of numerous bites from one particular child, and La Petit never really handled the situation. We moved him prior to his entering the toddler room.

We did not realize it at the time (we had no frame of reference), but looking back, La Petit really wasn't that great a place. (This was 2002-2003)

I can't speak to what La Petit offers pre-schoolers, but I know, for comparison, Winwood has a music teacher that comes in weekly, computer time, sign language and spanish intruction and monthly/bimonthly group events (magician, musical band, puppet show, etc).

    Good luck!

We had our 3 year old at La Petite for a few months, then pulled out when Ashburn Childrens Center opened up. We never looked back. La Petite had high turnovers with their teachers because they weren't happy. I highly recommend Ashburn Childrens Center, they have better facilities, activities are well thought out and notes given out to parents on what they did for the day, and the teachers are very courtesous and experienced. We take our now 4 year old on M,W,F half-days and he enjoys it alot.

Thanks for sharing your views about La Petite. I inquired at Winwood and I really liked it, the camera stuff is really cool; but the waitlist is so long, by the time there is an opening, my child might be in a school.

I was considering Boyd School too, but among other things, the Pre-school timings are only until 3.00 and they do not have after-school vacancy which which is an issue if the parents work till evening. Well, did not think of Ashburn Children's Center until now..

Once again thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.

    ashley,

We went to Golden Pond yesterday for their Fall 2006 open house, and thought it was very good also. We may be considering Golden Pond, because our son is 4 and Ashburn Childrens doesn't have a pre-kindergarden class. Golden Pond is a little more expensive, but seemed every as nice and organized.

Here is the link for their website:

Our two older boys went to Golden Pond and we were very pleased with their after school program and summer camps for the school age children.
