Where is the best place in the area to take a dog swimming? We would like somewhere away from roads and crowds. Are there any good spots within a short drive from Ashburn that you would recommend?

Beaverdam Reservoir is where I take my dog. He always comes home soaked to the bone.

Robzilla, where on Beaverdam does he go in? I'd love to take our dog there too! Thanks.

What you have to do is drive around Beaverdam--drive south on Belmont Ridge, turn right at Brambleton, turn right onto Evergreen Mills. Turn right on Reservoir (careful, it's a tight turn). Continue on the gravel road to the end. Park anywhere.

The bad part about Beaverdam is the trash--it's been used as a teenager/white trash hang out for years. Though once you get past the main area along the fire road it cleans up very nicely.

Watch for snakes as well. The times I have been there I always saw them.

Another way to access the reservoir is by the church off of Belmont Ridge Rd. near Waxpool (forget the name of it, Mt. Hope maybe??).

There is a gravel road that goes down to the reservoir.

Careful about parking at or near the church. They tow.
