Off the topic but how does the everyday Scientologist feel about Tom Cruise?

I don't see how this is any different that most other major religions. In fact, space people and distant galaxies sounds alot more feasible than an invisible man in the sky who, if you are good, will let you in to a magical place called heaven.

    Re: Scientology

This just goes to show you that you can find anyone to say anything on the Internet.

Look, I'm no fan of Scientology and don't know much about it -- all I know that Tom Cruise is a freak. But if you look at the "stories" in these links, they are full of holes and, IMO lack any semblance of credibility.

If you want to debate a topic like this or any other, please stick to the facts instead of this garbage...

Here's a quote to sum it up:
"God is santa claus for grown ups."

Split these posts into a new thread. You do not need to be debating someone's religion who is simply is looking for like-minded people.

I hate to cause any problems here but Atheism is also a religion. It is the belief that there is no God.

In dictionaries, religion is defined as “any specific system of belief, worship, or conduct that prescribes certain responses to the existence (or non-existence) and character of God.” Also, “a set of attitudes, beliefs, and practices pertaining to supernatural power.”

Just as some believe there is a god, others do not believe there is a god....both are beliefs which cannot be supported by tangible facts.

    Both are religions.

As you make fun of one religion the other religion can make fun of you.

Forget Santa...your beliefs are the glue that makes you up. Without your beliefs you would not be the person you are today. These beliefs shape the core of your personality, your soul and your inner being.

    Just my $0.02.

Tom Cruise is an admirable man and is also a wonderful role model for children. I don't think "freak" is an appropriate term for describing him. People's beliefs should be respected, this is America!

    I respect peoples beliefs, but:

...come on, now. I've had it with his fist-pumping antics. Every time he's in public, he looks like he just rolled double-sevens at the craps table...pointing a people with the finger-guns, pumping his fists, jumping up and down on couches. He is a class-A lunatic, regardless of what he believes in. Some people are just asses, plain and simple, and he's a prime example.

I thought his interview with Matt Lauer was comical. I try to use the word 'glib' at least once a day because of him.

heh...you're just glib! Modern medicine does more harm than good! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go purchase a sonogram machine which I'm not licensed to operate or own!

Tom Cruise a role model, RIIIIIGHT!!!!

He has left TWO wives because they couldn't or wouldn't have biological children? There is a "good" husband for you!

One may think it was because they wouldn't convert to Scientology????

Mr. Cruise donates his time and money to charities. Including one that benefits World Trade Center victims who suffer from breathing problems because of the dust, smoke, and debri. He raised over $1.2 million for the cause. When was the last time any of you donated to a charity?

Donation to charity = tax right off. And you said it yourself, he "raised", not donated the $1.2 mil.

I think Mr. Cruise is your typical Hollywood type who needs to do certain things to remain in the public light. Of course, his recents rants have been humorous.

As for the role model again... I will look elsewhere.
