    *sigh* I want a TJs.

Tried to contact the company but they don't have a staff who answers emails - their attempt to keep prices low, according to the web site. Anyone have better luck?

FWIW ... we have a Trader Joes opening here in Pittsburgh. I actually start working for them next Monday.

Lessee ... this is the sixth career change in my life, would be seventh, but I worked at a supermarket before I went into the A.F.

My advice ... shop at the ones in Reston and elsewhere, and let the manager know what area you travel from to shop there.

My neighbor said that Moorefield Station has dragged their feet too long and Target is no longer opening in Ashburn....does anyone have any info on this? I know they're building one next to Wegmans, but will there still be two?

The Moorefield Station website still lists Target (but obviously has not been updated in some time so could be wrong) as being the main anchor along with a 2007 scheduled opening which is not going to happen considering they haven't even broken ground on the site work yet. If Target doesn't come there I am not sure what they'll do for an anchor since it's not the type of development for a Super Walmart (although would be nice to have one close by).

Hopefully it will be something we actually NEED... which is SO not another Target, or Walmart, or Supermarket, or Nail Salon, or drycleaner, or fast food joint...

    OK. I'll shut up now.

Sharse, just curious; what large type commercial entity do you think should move in as a large anchor for Moorefield, if not the ones you mentioned? The store needs to be a large enough one to draw customers in for the smaller stores, so it can't be a Nail Salon, etc...

Must it be that huge? What about Pottery Barn? Crate & Barrel? The Great Indoors? If I recall correctly, this is the area where PF Chang's was going to be built. Wal Mart (for example) and PF Changs don't exactly attract the same crowd for the most part.

Yes... I was being a smart, errr, I mean I was being facetious.

REI is a good idea. Would be nice to have a higher end Sporting goods store in the area. ****'s Sporting Goods is so so, REI would be great.

I'd be surprised if Cracker Barrel came to Loudoun. They seem to be predominantly placed near interstate highways to catch long-trip drivers (have you ever driven I-81 and I-40?). They're not really placed in suburbia just to serve that community.

That being said, I'm all for them coming. The best turnip greens, dumplins, breakfasts, sweet tea, cornbread....shall I continue?

dcdavis and all others re: Cracker Barrel---

If you wish to know how to cook turnip greens, fried okra, and other southern delicacies--the following should be helpful: (Just like CB--I am a GRIT(S)
    GIRL RAISED IN THE SOUTH!!

FOR TURNIP GREENS (OR ANY OTHER GREENS COOKED AKA MUSTARD, KALE, SWISS/RAINBOW CHARD, ETC. WITHOUT LARD OR TRANS FATS) THE FOLLOWING IS A SIMPLE FIX. BUY CHOSEN GREENS FROZEN OR FRESH--ADD A LITTLE WATER TO POT AND STEAM SLOWLY ON STOVETOP. FOR ADDED FLAVOR--YOU CAN ADD CHOPPED GARLIC AND AFTER COOKED REMOVE FROM STOVE TO COOL. THEN PROCEED TO USE THE HOT PEPPER SAUCE (RED OR GREEN TABASCO PEPPERS IN VINEGAR FOR SEASONING). THE FAMOUS "POT LICKER" IS SIMPLY HOT SAUCE ON TOP OF GREENS. IN THE OLDEN DAYS--PEOPLE WOULD SIMMER GREENS ALL DAY IF THEY WERE FRESH FROM GARDENS.

HARRIS TEETER AND FOOD LION CARRIES HOT GREEN PEPPER SAUCE. WHEN VINEGAR IS LOW JUST ADD MORE VINEGAR. PEPPERS/VINEGAR SAUCE WILL LAST IN FRIDGE UP TO 6 MONTHS.

FRIED OKRA--YOU CAN BUY PREBREADED OKRA OR DO THIS WAY (I LIKE BEST--MY GRANNY'S RECIPE). TAKE FROZEN OKRA (UNBREADED) PLACE IN PAPER LUNCHBAG WITH A MIXTURE OF CORNMEAL AND WHITE FLOUR FOR COATING. TO GET THE BEST RESULT FOR FRYING (LIKE CB'S) MAKE SURE FRYING OIL IS REAL HOT IN SKILLET OR FRYER. USE CORN OIL FOR LOW TRANS FATS. WHEN OIL IS HOT--PLACE OKRA IN SKILLET AFTER COATING OKRA WITH MIXTURE OF FLOUR & CORNMEAL PREVIOUSLY SHAKEN IN BROWN BAG. FRY OKRA FOR ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES (OR LONGER) FOR DESIRED CRISPNESS. DO NOT BURN OKRA MIXTURE! IF USING PREBREADED OKRA--DO NOT COAT WITH BROWN BAG COATING MIXTURE. FOLLOW SAME COOKING METHOD--BE SURE TO TURN FREQUENTLY TO AVOID BURNING OKRA.

FOR LOWFAT GREENS AND FOR KIDS TO EAT--TAKE A LITTLE WATER AND ADD CHOPPED HERBS TO TASTE AND VINEGAR. GREEN KALE, TURNIP GREENS, AND OTHER GREEN LEAFY VEGGIES HAVE ALOT OF CALCIUM NUTRIENTS. YOU CAN ALSO SAUTE ANY GREEN AND USE HOT SAUCE TO TASTE. YES--YOUR KIDS WILL EAT--MY QUADS LOVE THIS RECIPE. ALTHOUGH I DO NOT FRY FOODS ALOT.

JUST A LITTLE FOOD BYTE FROM THE FOODIE (FOOD DR):mmm:
