Friends of ours are looking for a new home for their cat, "Princess":

    "Princess"

Princess is looking for a good home to share. She is a mature (10+ years) female laid back cat. Would prefer a quiet older home with no small children and the ability to go inside and out. Loves to be petted and to stay by your side. Very affectionate.

We inherited Princess when her owner passed away unexpectantly. We would love to keep her, but she is not adapting well to our chaotic household with 3 small children and another cat. She came from an active adult (55+) household with peace and quiet and lots of love. Looking for something similar for this loving cat. Please call us if you are interested in welcoming her to your home as we will not be able to keep her long. Thank you!

    Contact Don at 703-929-3233.

    Hi-

Just wanted to update that if they cannot find a home for Princess, then they are regrettably going to have to take her to the animal shelter this weekend. :-(

If you are interested, please call them ASAP!

I highly recommend that they talk to one of the many animal rescue organizations in our area. I know Audrey is involved with one, though I'm not sure if they have cats. I'm sure she can give you some contacts. Please do no let them take the poor animal to the shelter!

Thanks for suggesting this! Please try contacting Friends of Homeless Animals, www.foha.org, 703-385-0224. They have lots of cats they are trying to find homes for. They are a wonderful, loving, NO-KILL shelter. If they don't have room for one more, try posting a classified on www.petfinder.com or washingtondc.craigslist.com. You might also find other no-kill shelters at petfinder.com.

Also try Hart. They're a no-kill rescue organization and they have their cats for adoption in the Sterling PetSmart. That's where we adopted our cats from.

Yes, please refer them to one of the rescue organizations.

Chances are the cat will be KILLED at the shelter give her age at that she has several requirements for a new home.

They are contacting rescue organizations first, but none of the rescue orgs will take the cat b/c it's already with them. They HAVE to get rid of the cat by this weekend (they've been trying for over 2 years to find her a home), and really do not want to take her to a shelter, but they are not finding any other solution. I've passed along your advice to them, and maybe these rescue leagues will work out.

    Thanks!
