We are thinking about moving our two boys from Mulberry Childcare (where we have a number of issues) to Children's World. Can anyone provide positive or negative feedback?

    Thanks in advance.

We have had our son at Children's World for two years. He started in the Toddlers and has progressed to the Preschool I class. As with most centers, we have experienced highs and lows. The lows at CW seem to be in the past and involve a former center director, so I don't feel there is a need to discuss them in my post. The center is currently doing phenomenally under the direction of Ms. Sandra (Center Director). She is dedicated, hardworking and really cares about the center. As my husband says, "she's a whippersnapper!!" She has really improved teacher morale, yet holds them accountable as well. There is a curriculum specialist on staff who works with the lead teachers to make sure they are really implementing the curriculm. I must say, my son is very happy at Children's World. He feels safe there and really loves his teachers. He is also learning a lot. The center has a wonderful selection of toys and each month they change their "learning centers". My son is always talking about the fun stuff they do and make in class. The art projects he brings home are awesome! They just don't have these kids scribbling on paper...they are doing paper mache and all kinds of great crafts. There is rarely a day when I walk in and the lead teacher doesn't have the children engaged in some constructive activity. As a working parent that makes me very happy. All in all, we are very pleased with Children's World.

With that being said, Mulberry and Children's World are owned by the same company (KinderCare) so the curriculum and structure is probably the same. Why are you considering switching?

Hi there! Thank you so much for the great feedback! I got a sense of what you are talking about re: art projects and teacher morale while I toured the center, but there are always things you can't dig into when you are just touring the center. I have a feeling both my boys are going to enjoy it there.

The main reason I want to make the change is because of teacher turnover at Mulberry. I was hoping things would settle when the new director came on board a couple of months ago, but they haven't. Even worse, some of the "new" teachers don't seem to belong in early childhood education and I can't get a straight answer as to what their qualifications are. Finally, as much as I love the class my 3 year old is in the next class is absolutely not suitable for him. The teachers (if you can call them that) barely have a clue as to what is going on in their room.

Is your son in the 3 year old class? Maybe our boys will be together!

Thanks again for the frank feedback!

    karla
