5 % packet loss just pinging to the tower...:( . Ongoing for 10 days now, sometimes better mostly worse. But I can still not download any files w/out connection to the tower breaking. Ugh.

DwArFlOrD -- Where you at? Near what intersections? In talking to Khalil his next idea is a repeater up off of Glebe View. That won't help me at all because the same line of trees would be in the way.

I just got my quote from Atlantech. $650 a month, I am 6 miles from the CO. My work will pay for $200 of it, If I get one person to pay $100 a month I am going to put in the order and share.

    S2000,
Im on Glebe View Dr, last I heard he was looking to put a repeat on Basil Ct (which is right behind me). He tells me the trees are my problem, but the same trees are in the way of Basil Ct. And the Community center is at a lower elevation than I am and the same trees are in the way there too. I dont know what he can do to fix it if the trees are the problem. If the trees were the problem you would think I would have had that problem all along, and / or it would also affect my upload speeds. Neither are the case.......
I looked into getting a burstable T1, since I wouldn't be using it all the time, it seemed more cost effective. Ive seen Full T1s at around $200 not including local loop. But Atlantech is actually a good Tier II provider, ive looked at their network design on their website. If you are close enough to me , maybe I can wireless to your T? :) I also think another person was looking to do something similar about a year ago, but dont think there were enough takers on it.

DwArFlOrD -- Tell you what. If you can see the roofs of any houses down on Vestals Gap near Marsh Creek, I say we see if we can get a wireless link with each other. If we can, would you be interested in $100 a month for a T1?

I am in the middle of negotiating some final things with Atlantech, but should have the final quote today.

I'm also seeing 5-15% packet loss (for me it's the second time - first was with the lousy Linksys bridge). Very disappointing :(

Wonder what caused the amp to blow? Lightning strike? I hope they get that amp replaced soon and our service restored to where it was prior to last Monday and we have every right to expect it to be.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I signed up for 2 years with Verolan. Just cancelled my Adelphia service. Already moved my email accounts over. Paid for an upgrade to a decent bridge. The last thing I want to hear right now is that this new provider is not working out :(

From what I understand the Amp has already been replaced. I think the Antenna was realigned when the Amp was replaced and that might be causing everyones problems.

I'm not seeing any packet loss at all right now.

77 packets transmitted, 77 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/std-dev = 73.281/87.060/146.507/12.039 ms

(Pinging from a server in Mississippi thus the high ping)

Yeah, the amp was replaced late Monday (14th) and the antannae was moved last friday. I too am in the same boat, 2 year contract, just cancelled adelphia, upgraded bridge. Last night it was so bad I had to use my dialup, couldnt even surf w/wireless connection. Ill give it until monday, that will be 2 weeks of the problem. I remember when Adelphia had a problem for almost 3 months......:(
I dont know we'll see how it goes. I have not heard from Verolan since Sunday. Anyone w/anykind of updates? I know Khalil is working hard on this, but not sure what is being done. He is not one to throw caution to the wind on this because I know he does care about it being a serious problem. We just need to get some kind of status/update.
S2000, I cant see any homes on vestals from my house, I have a row of homes and trees between me and Truro Parish, not to mention the treeline between truro and homes on vestals, but that would have been an option for me if this didnt work. Keep us up to date on your progress.

Just ran 194 received 189 (2% loss). This is better than it was earlier today. But still not satisfactory for any serious use of the connection. Don't know if Khalil did anything today or not. I called into the Verolan office and spoke with Brian this morning.

With the 2% loss I am able to vpn, surf, etc. It's a little slower than normal but functional. Much much better than earlier today when I was seeing 5-15%.

I don't understand this though because the first time I saw even 2% loss my connection was basically useless. Maybe because this time the loss is only between me and the tower and I have very good ping times to the tower (ave = 1ms). So the resending of packets (TCP protocol will cause a resend) is very quick?

I seem to be having similiar issues. I live in Sterling and was pointed to verolan by a friend who lives in Broadlands. Because of my distance, my speeds were never above 450 and averaged around 300. That was fine by me. This was the only option for broadband in Sterling.

After my installation things were great, no packet loss. However after the amp died, things were bad. Khalil has been great in getting things working again. So now my ping times are better to the tower (ave = 5 ms), but I am still seeing packet lost. The loss is between 2 - 5 %. It is still usable though. I am able to surf, use a vpn, and play online games. I did have problems downloading this past week, but it seem to clear up. I also am looking forward to a repeater closer to me by 28.

Bandwidth is not the problem we are having. The problem we are having is between our bridges and the tower, not out to Atlantech. There may be a chance the repeater "could" help, but since there is only a "possibility" of a repeater being put into place then there is no guarantee that on the 5th or 6th anything will get resolved. We all had the problems begin as soon as the amp died on the 7th and we still have the problem, yet a repeater was not necessary prior to the amp problem so how can one say that a repeater will fix our problem? Does anyone know for sure, exactly what the problem is? It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since the problem initially arose.

Still have some packet loss here, hopefully Verizon will have the T1s installed for VeroLAN soon.

I'm a little dissapointed to see they have lowered the upload speed from 512 to 384. Hopefully once the new equipment/changes are in place, they will re-evaluate this decision. The higher upload is a great way to differentiate themselves from Adelphia and Verizon's lame upload speeds.

OUCH! They sure did drop the upload speeds, thats 2x theyve done that. If these speeds were listed listed initially, I never would have signed up. That makes no advantage over adelphia at 2x the price. Wonder why upload speeds are so restrictive, usually circuits are full duplex so what would it matter? Hmmm
