Hate Crime in Aldie

I am sickened by the news of anti-gay vandalism and destruction outside a home in Aldie, just west of Lenah Run. If you haven't heard of it yet, here's a link to an article in the Loudoun Times-Mirror. I attended a meeting of some community and church leaders about it and they are planning a tree replanting effort in October. I can't understand how someone could do this. I guess I am naive. I've spoken to people who live there and near there and it just seemed to me like they didn't expect it either in our area.

Thanks for posting this story. I checked and saw that the AP carried it, too. While I am glad it is being addressed, it's sad that Loudoun County will now be known as a home for the criminally bigoted. I hope those responsible are found and are given more than a token slap on the wrist.

 

One act of ignorant vandalism will hardly get Loudoun labelled.
It's fortunate that this type of thing is big news. It shows this area is NOT like that. In some states I've lived in, this would hardly be reported.

 

Forgive me for digging up an old thread but what ever happened with this? Did they ever find out who did it?
At the time it took place there was a lot speculation but I never saw any follow up in the media.

Thanks for sharing the info. I was wondering what had happened with this, and I was especially glad to see a number of groups take stands against the hate crime, like churches and companies like AOL. The resolution against hate crimes from the Leesburg Town Council also a positive development.
