Did any of the VDOT streets get plowed? Again, my street is left unplowed, and yes, it's covered by VDOT. It specifically says on their website they provide plowing at 2 inches, and we clearly got at least that, almost 3. After being compacted all day long, my street is now an obstacle course of thick sheets of ice. Had they at least ran over it with some salt yesterday this could have been avoided. Just wondering, is my street just being overlooked, or do they consistently ignore all side streets? I remember when I was younger, the plows would come around every hour while it was snowing, no street left untouched. (That was in NJ, but still... it's the way it should be.) Any thoughts??

I have not called yet, but I did Email them this morning. I'm hoping others from this area will do the same,... call and Email. I don't think one person is going to get them out here.

My street is VDOT I believe, and we didn't get plowed last time, but we did get plowed this time. Before 8:30am yesterday, or thereabouts.

Still no plows here or salt trucks. Even on major roads around me. Has anyone covered by VDOT seen a plow yet today? I've been corresponding with this person from Loudoun Maintenance VDOT. Gaby.Hakim@VDOT.Virginia.gov. They told me they were on their way early this morning, but I am not holding my breath for any help on my street yet. Just wondering if I'm the only one concerned here about the treacherous conditions of the roads, or if anyone else has had any luck contacting VDOT for some relief?

    Thanks!

No streets in Broadlands have been touched yet. Ashburn Farm? Down to the pavement. Unreal. Just called and told them and we're now in their "system". We'll see.

Waxpool and Claiborne yes. Vestal's Gap, Chickacoan, etc., no. That deep sleet is rough, like driving through piles of ball bearings.

I find it hard to believe that we have seen NO VDOT plows coming through.....not even last night!! This is ridiculous!! Gotta love living in NOVA when we get snow. I heard schools are closed tomorrow....HUH??? If they got the plows out, maybe they could go. It's amazing.

I think that the part of Ashburn Farm you're referring to may have been a privately hired contractor. Half my street got plowed around noon (not my half, of course). My husband got our 4 wheel drive out and followed the plow lines. They came in to Windmill off of Claiborne, turned right down a side street, right again to the end of my street and back the way they came. The didn't even go out the other direction on Windmill, which is why we think someone paid for the service... Sad...

Gentle Heights has not been plowed.
Great sledding opportunity since it's a hill.
    Bad for driving...

I just ventured out and it was odd how sporadic the plowing was in Broadlands. Claiborne was wide open, thankfully. Many side streets of course were not. But I saw no less than 4 VDOT plows on claiborne full of sand which I hope were heading in our direction. Hopefully they'll be plowing well into the night to clear us out. And pile all that lovely ice right back onto the apron of our driveways.

Looks like they've been out plowing for the past couple of hours. Hopefully they will get to you soon.

I just called VDOT as my street hasn't been plowed the last few storms and was told our street apparently wasn't in their system and that she was able to add it to the datebase. Lets see what happens.

we saw several small cars get stuck on our street and surrounding streets not plowed in the afternoon. so if you don't have an SUV truck you were pretty much stranded at home for the day. once vdot finally got there at 10pm, they did a terrible job of just plowing a small one lane strip in the middle of the roads, two cars cannot drive past each other at the same time. And no salt, just sand, so this stuff will never melt, it has compacted to piles of snow and ice. Still dangerous conditions. The VDOT work is absolutely despicable! Who do we go to to complain about this, besides VDOT...

VDOT's a joke in NOVA. The plowing is absolutely horrible!!!! It's done half way.....like they're in a big hurry to get it done.....if you're going to plow - do it right....here's an idea...send these plow drivers to Bfl., Chicago, Denver to learn the proper way to plow......

To say that VDOT does a halfa**ed job would be paying them WAY too big of a compliment!!
