We are thinking about replacing current flooring with hardwood and new carpet. Anyone have any recent experiences with Pro Source? Did you find an installer through them or on your own?
    Thanks!

I think we were missing a few bits from the order.. but they were not TOO bad to have resolution for. We installed it ourselves though.

We found an installer on our own. We used Sterling Carpet (Winston was our contact). But it was cheaper to use the wood from Prosource and all was fine and easy.

We used ProSource for about 1200sf of hardwoods and thought the prices and service was pretty good. They have a list of installers and we used Virginia Floors (who is on their list) for installation and would recommend them.

    SarasMom and others--

We also wanted to recommend the Sterling Carpet Shop stores in Sterling and Leesburg areas. When we lived in Eastern Loudoun County, we had Sterling Carpet install new floors and carpet before we sold our old home while we were building our new home on our farm land.

Also, Winston is the manager of the Sterling location and is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The manager of the Leesburg store (cannot recall his/her name) was also great when we built our home on our farm land more than five years ago. The installers were neat and courteous. Great stock and prices.

Hubby did install new floors in our playroom and basement; but because it was such a large job the rest of our new home--we went with Sterling Carpet again. We used Sterling for all of our floor needs in all of new home.

Also, if you desire a remnant (carpet/rug); you can also have the store bind and cut floor samples to your specifications. For example, we had a berber rug cut for our kids rooms for an area rug. We have all wood through our new home and also wanted some thing simple. Although we have other rugs for formal areas--going for floor samples is a great way to save money.

You might also look at the floor samples of vinyl flooring and they can install for a nominal fee. Sometimes a small area (i.e. in a hallway or bathroom) you can also save money by buying remnants of flooring.

www.sterlingcarpetshops.com (Sterling Carpet Shops web site and info.)

    Good luck--

If it's not too personal, what was the cost of doing that - more specifically the installation cost.

I don't remember off the top of my head. I'll look up the invoices and post back here later today.
