Go to the www.notinbroadlands.com website and link to the Washington post article about the HSA meeting that was held at Heritage H.S.

I saw a blurb in the Washington Post Loudoun Extra where it lists Projects Proposed (I thought this meant before the Planning Commission) in the area. The link is http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A7828-2003Sep26.html and the blurb is:

"13. Broadlands Regional Medical Center, southeast corner of Dulles Greenway and Belmont Ridge Road north of Broadlands. Exception to build 180-bed acute care hospital and associated helipad on 27.07, 76.34, 14.54 and seven acres zoned PDH3/PD-OP (planned development housing-three units per acre and planned development office park)."

I looked at loudoun.gov and didn't see anything upcoming on the agendas for this. I thought HCA was going to get State approval first, then go for local, but it sounds like they are going for local now? Anyone have more word on this?

HCA's approach the first time around was to get state approval first. This time around they are pursuing both concurrently.

    Yay....
but I do not think HCA will give it up yet.
They are so annoying and stupid, I actually enjoy watching them waste their money
on this campaign to build in B-lands. It is so funny and I know they will never
    build here, hahaha.
I think we need another ice rink.

I know that people on this forum have some strong views, so I'll be careful about what I say. With that disclaimer, I have to admit that I do not like the amount of junk mail that I get asking for my support of this proposed hospital. I know that direct mail is not cheap, so the spending on this advocacy is definitely not funny.

It's not going away. If you read the article it says that this was only the appeal to last years decision. The Commish still makes a final decision a year from now. HCA bought the land. They're not just going to walk away from that.

But Richmond has shown to be determined not to give Loudoun any more hospital beds. I doubt they will pass the new hospital. Anyone know why more hospital beds in this area is a bad thing? Their must be a reason fo denying it in both hospitals.

Wasn't the full Health Systems Agency's Board of Directors scheduled to vote on HCA's proposal yesterday? Does anyone know what the result of that vote was?

Ah, Homer, it was just wishful thinking. Call me an idealist, but I can dream, right?!? I realize that HCA will not just go away, but I just wish that the company would just recognize that it will never get approval to build that ho$pital right on top of our community.

And the reason that the state cites for not approving HCA's request... LOUDOUN HOSPITAL IS OPERATING BELOW CAPACITY. So, HCA's claims about a healthcare crisis in Loudoun are fibs. (The pro-ho$pital crowd asked me to tone down the rhetoric, so I did not say "lies.")

I will be getting the board decision, reasons why etc,on the HSA/HCA decision and will be posting it on the notin broadlands website. HCA does not own the land, St Vincents hospital does which was owned by HCA but as of Sept 1 they are no longer affiliated. There is a buy back clause I'm sure, however I really doubt HCA is so dumb to keep throwing good money after bad to try to stay here. I heard of an article in the post about them looking at buying a hospital franchise in Prince Georges county. Who knows, but right know we can smile because they lost AGAIN.

How is it that "Broadlands Regional Medical Center" is offering "safe sitter" classes at OUR community center?
Wow, is this a sneaky conspiracy or what?? Duh, hello?
Naaah, I don't think these HCA people are very aggressive, do you?

Safe sitter classes? That's just crazy for so many reasons I can even start to type them all!!!

Guess what I saw on CNN last night around 6:30 PM - an ad for Broadlands Regional Medical Center! I wonder how much that cost???

Yeah, except that this company happens to be HCA.
And I seriously doubt that they are just doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.
They are just massaging Ashburn/Broadlands so they can barge into our neighborhood.
They need support because they are not getting enough of it yet.
They couldn't do this in Arlington, huh?

What really gets my goat is that HCA is sponsoring a safe sitter class in an effort to try to make the company seem pro-family. However, HCA is a company that is responsible for countless deaths of innocent babies each year. That's right! HCA's hospitals perform abortions.

So, I wonder what else HCA will teach in its "safe sitter" classes? Maybe some sex ed, family planning, and how-to's on getting an abortion?

For the facts, see the following links that a church friend shared with me by email last night:

    - http://www.marysremnant.org/Abor/AborBus.html

Anyone who supports HCA is supporting ABORTION!

Please do not turn this into a choose life or pro-choice issue. Frankly I don't want to read it.

Speck, she's entitled to her opinion and you are entitled to ignore what she says. I suggest that you exercise your right just as she is exercising hers.

My personal views on the pro-choice debate aside (total social liberal here), I am very concerned to think that we could have an abortion clinic right around the block from our house (fiscal conservative here)!

I've been on the fence about the hospital, but it is becoming increasingly clear that HCA has a dark side. The way that they are using both the print and visual media deceptively offends me. Now, knowing that Broadlands Medical Center would be performing abortions makes me VERY MUCH opposed to letting this hospital come here.

You know what comes along with facilities that perform abortions? PEOPLE PROTESTING THOSE FACILITIES! You know that we would have to put up with people like Stephanie (sorry, dear) protesting the abortion clinic there.

Now, that would make our community a lovely place to come home to as well as really turn off potential buyers!
