Wow, that looks really urban, almost like Newton, Mass.

Any idea when any of this is going to be completed? I know they have a sign up off the Loudoun County Parkway talking about the "town center" that's supposed to be similiar to Fairfax Corner. The sign says something like delivery to tenents early 2008, but no ground has been broken, so I don't think that date still stands....I just want PF Changs!

The bulk of the development requires the Metro rail to be in place.

So what is the status of metro rail. Phase I was supposed to be completed by 2008? I don't see that construction yet....

Q: When will construction begin? When will the Metro open?

A: Construction on the first phase of the Metrorail is expected to begin in early 2007. Phase one will branch off the Orange Line just beyond East Falls Church Station, goes through Tysons Corner (4 stops) to Wiehle Avenue (1 stop) in Reston. It is scheduled to be completed by 2012.

Phase 2 construction is likely to begin in 2010. Phase 2 will extend the Metrorail from Reston and Herndon to Dulles International Airport and into eastern Loudoun County. It is scheduled to be completed by 2015.

metro lovers should learn the word 'optimism' because you're going to need it :)

Metro extensions have a history of being miserably (even decades) late. Just look at Tysons, they haven't even come to a conclusion about the hill right?

If the rail opens through Tysons and to Reston by 2015 I'd be floored.

More the look of it where the T is, not the size.

This one will not be because this is going to be run the Washington Airport Board with very deep pockets with experience in extremely large and complex construction projects that usually come in on budget and time unless there was a change during construction in scope, this show is not being run by metro. One of the Vice Chairmans on the airport board is a very close long time friend of mine and believe me nothing is going to stop this train rolling including this clowns down in Tysons trying to get it under ground they are ten years late. I also have a good friend on the tunnel committee and I keep telling her spend the money on how to make the above ground beautiful as there are many examples of this all over the country and the world.
I had a small Christmas party with both my very close friends the vice chairman of the airport board and my other very close friend on the tunnel committee. After those two had a civil but heated talk there is no doubt in my mind the silver line will be built and on time and another little secret most likely sooner then the projected. THis project has an extreme high priority, believe me

Gotcha. As a former Back Bay resident and T rider, I catch your drift.

The Loudoun Civic and Transit Center is actually a proposal for the new county government center that was submitted. It was just announced that it made the cut (they narrowed it to 5 from the original 13 proposals). There are 2 others in Eastern Loudoun and 2 in Leesburg. See http://www.loudoun.gov/news/govtcenter.htm for more.

Very true, but this project is way more then the government center potentially being built there. With or without the government center this is a very large urban project that is going to be built on a grand scale.

Very disappointed with Moorefield Station project. I figure the project would have started 2 years ago. By now I thought I would be in Moorefield Station but the more I thought about that metro going in, the more I said to myself, it won't happen anytime soon. I think it'll be 15 yrs from now or even never. I even got a 5/1 ARM thinking I won't be in my home for 5 years and I'll be living in M.S. like a year ago. NOPE!!! Screw M.S. project, and if the metro won't come to me, I'll come to the metro. Please someone buy my home so I can move to my urban oasis :)
