They didnt waste any time in raising the rates effective July 1st as provided in their last rate request!

REVISED TOLL STRUCTURE FOR DULLES GREENWAY

(Dulles, VA, June 1, 2007) Toll Road Investors Partnership II, L.P. (TRIP II), the owner of the Dulles Greenway concession, announced today that as permitted by the State Corporation Commission's (SCC) approved toll structure it will increase the toll effective July 1, 2007.

    Revised Toll Structure

Tolls at the Main Toll Plaza, Route 606/Ox Road and Route 607/Loudoun County Parkway will increase by $0.30 to $3.00 for a 2 axle vehicle and by $0.60 to $6.00 for 3 or more axle vehicles for travel on weekdays.
Weekend fares at the main toll plaza for a two axle vehicle will increase by $0.30 to $2.80 and by $0.60 to $5.60 for 3 or more axle vehicles
It should be noted that those Greenway patrons travelling from or onto the Dulles Toll Road will continue to pay the applicable Dulles Toll Road toll (currently $0.50 for 2 axle vehicles, $1.00 for 3 or more axles).

The schedule of new toll rates for 2-axle vehicles is noted below: Toll Plaza Weekday Weekend
Cash/Credit Card AVI Cash/Credit Card AVI
    Main Toll Plaza* $3.00 $3.00 $2.80 $2.80
    Route 606/Ox Road & Route 607/Loudoun County Parkway $3.00 $3.00 $2.80 $2.80
Credit Card AVI Credit Card AVI
    Remaining Exits $2.30 $1.85 $2.30 $1.85
    * excludes the tolls collected for the Dulles Toll Road
Note that 3 or more axle vehicles are presently charged double the 2-axle vehicle toll.

    Background to the toll increase

In July 2004 the SCC Commissioners ordered the following tolling schedule for 2-axle vehicles on the Dulles Greenway:

    A maximum ceiling of $2.40, effective September 2004;
A maximum ceiling of $2.70 effective December 31, 2005; and
    A maximum ceiling of $3.00 effective July 1, 2007.

Now it is a $9 round trip to the beltway so one can sit in traffic along the whole route if you go during normal rush hour.

Greenway is going to get significantly less from our household. We WERE spending almost $12 a day for 2 cars.

Now it will only be when a quick route is absolutely needed.

This is a big reason why we are relocating our office to Ashburn July 1. We have two interior offices available if there are any small businesses out there looking to share.

I agree with everyone about cost being too high to use for every day commute.

However, when there is a semi emergency and you need to get home asap, it sure is nice to have this option available.

Wow, I can't wait, I am going to be saving so much more money after the toll increase. I've been boycotting them for years. Now everytime I don't use the Greedway, I'll be saving even more.

Wonderful and just think about all the increased traffic on the secondary roads. You will not be able to widen Waxpool wide enough :) All the real solutions are years and years away.

All I can say is I took the metro into DC the other day and watched everyone sit on 66 as we flew by.

The weird part was in the evening all the traffic going towards DC on 66 during the evening rush hour.

Perhaps their should be a law passed if you work in Virginia , Maryland or DC you must have a residence in the respected jurisdiction if you work there.

I hear all the time some Maryland people would never live in Virginia and vice a versa including DC. If the state you reside in is good enough to live there then it should be good enough to work in. ha ha :D

only west virginia should be given an exemption for now until they move most of the government there:)

Increased tolls mean increased secondary traffic and more time away from home and work.

Metro works great. If you ignore the hour commute to the Vienna Metro.

That is why we need it out here.

Don't think the money for it will be spent out here on other transportation issues if we don't get metro.

A lot of people are under the misunderstanding that the federal dollars allocated for the dulles metro can be used for other Loudoun transportation projects.

WRONG!!!!! if it is not spent here for metro another city will get it for their metro project and we will lose that money period.

I can't believe how many folks drive on the toll road. I had to commute almost 90 miles a day for a year and I took the toll road maybe 5 times (yes I drove most of the time). If you don't like the prices don't pay and stay on the free roads or take the awesome commuter option (Loudoun County Transit) we have out here, well good for the government workers who get MetroChex I mean. If everyone avoided the Greenway, well except for the rich and famous (and from the traffic on it there must be a lot that live out here) maybe they company would just go out of business and the road would be unowned and maybe even free. Oh here is one positive and it might be worth the money to some. More attractive woman drive on the toll road so if you feel like checking out some babes while driving you have a way better chance to find them on the toll road then the "free roads" they must have some sugar daddies at home or something. Wait does that mean if I marry a "hottie" would I have to fund her "toll road" addiction? I better include that "no toll roads" statement in my vows so I can avoid that cost.

About 2 years ago I rigged my car and 2 of my neighbors cars with a flip down plate for running the tolls. I was ok with $2.40 but the had to go and get greedy. Screw then for being greedy!

So you use that as an excuse to break the law?!?!?!

Maybe the tolls would not be so high if all the DELIBERATE toll runners paid their share.

Dude, IMO, what you did just plain sucks!

So, Up_on_one registered with the forum and posted from an IP, which was logged. So the date/time stamp & IP from that post is compared to the DHCP records for the same date/time range. The assigned IP connects to a MAC either at a PC or at a NID. This can then be resolved to a street address.

    Hrm....

Yes I do. And I sleep well at night too. I don' take getting robbed lightly to use 1 mile worth of road. And I paid my share for YEARS till they got greedy with their false promises this would be the last toll hike.
