I drove down the gravel piece today to safeway.

Is this some kind of joke this road project.

Last week there was all kinds of heavy equipment and today most of it is gone.

They put down a hundred feet of gravel and stopped digging out the dirt in front of the homes and even one part has been left untouched during all this new earth moving.

Now the equipment is gone at least the equipment that was doing the digging for the road base and leaving it unfinished and in limbo.

Now that is scary what is going on there.

    Indian burial ground possibly found???????

I noticed the same thing a couple of weeks ago - lots of activity one day and all the equipment gone the next - and then nothing happens for weeks.

I used to live over there in Overland Park and that was the M.O. They would come around every couple of months, smooth it all out and make it nice and then wait for the rains and traffic to destroy it and create huge potholes before they would come back out to fix it again. That dirt road sucks and they need to just replace it already.

Nah - it's some guy in VDOT - on sober days he's saying "What are you doing there? You should be over THERE!" On other days, he sends them back our way.

This project is the responsibility of Van Metre to complete. They say it will be done this year.

I live in Overland Park and yes - indeed - it is an embarrassment.

It almost seems like this is the project they work on when they don't have anything else to work on at another job site. Since there is no $$ for them at the end of their project (like typically they have with their homes) there is absolutely no pressure on them to finish this at any time.

    Deadlines come and go...

I've got $50 that says there is no way that road is finished to completion by the end of August. Any takers?
