If you are like me and want the anti starbuck local cafe, this place is wonderful! Delish croissant sandwiches, mmmm crepes, and the best almond cappucino I have had in the US! nice atmosphere with music, wireless internet... in the Ice Rink Plaza next to the Icehouse.

i tried the boba tea- not my thing but very tasty for a one time shot!

give it a go- you'll be glad you did.

I hope the Bean Scene succeeds (and improves in the process). I was disappointed by their coffee--two choices sitting in industrial heated urns--of course I'm a coffee aficionado.

But their menu looks promising. I also like the friendliness of the staff.

If you are around Leesburg or Reston- check out Greenberry's. I think it's the best coffee around.

My husband and I go all the time. Their prices are incredibly reasonable. Their sandwiches range from 5-6 and comes with choice of salad, fruit, or chips! We get their croissant sandwiches, which are TERRIFIC and are about $3. Today, I tried their milk boba tea, which I could drink every day!! Def gotta go!!

gotta a send a BZ (non military folks- that's an "atta boy, way to go" praise)
for this place- i'm on crutches and in a cast after ankle surgery, and I went there for coffee to go this morning. The guy cam from BEHIND the counter and carried my coffe out to my car for me- opened my car door and put it in the holder! ( a really nice customer got the door for me too- thanks lady!)

I didn't even have any cleavage showing- so it was CLEARLY just great, thoughtful customer service, no doubt. :))

One more reason to check this place out if you haven;t already!!

(and no I don't have any money invested in them, although it's not a bad idea... hmmm...)

    :)

hmm my wife and i made it a daily stop for a week..we were so turned off by the customer service that we vowed to never go back...i'm a big fan of the anti-starbucks of the world, but the attitude the man behind the counter gave me when i tried to use their free coffee card (that was full of stamps) was insane...oh well, hopefully it was just bad for us and the rest of you are enjoying it.

I always apply the 3 strikes rule. After all, I myself have left less than stellar impressions on people when I was in mood...

Their breakfast sandwich specials are very good. I forget the exact price but for about $4 you can have a bacon, egg and cheese croissant that is yummy. Good muffins, too. Next time you're on Waxpool during rush hour make a stop there and grab something.

You may lose your place in the car lineup but when you get back in you'll only be three cars back from where you were.

Wow I am so suprised to hear about your experience! My wife and I are 3-4 times a week Bean Sceners and can say that I go through more frequent drinker cards than anyone else I know. I have never had any attitude or issue using the cards to get my "free" drinks. Hopefully you dont completely count the place out - they have the best bubble coffee in VA and their sandwiches and breakfast crepes are great!

I wholeheartedly agree! Great service at the Leesburg Store. The coffee is quite good (not bitter at all like some other places).

Prosperity Center in Leesburg. It's the shopping plaza with the Blockbuster and Let's Dish on the left just as you enter Leesburg on Business Rte. 7 westbound from Ashburn.

FYI, there's a Caribou Coffee on the right hand side off Rte. 7, same plaza as the Best Buy and Giant.

While we're on the subject, if you are looking for some great coffee for the home grinder, check out Jittery Joe's Coffee out of Athens, Georgia. I have never been disappointed with any of the varieties I have tried from them. I especially enjoy Morning Ride and the Terrapin Wake-and-Bake Blend. And they sponsor the Jittery Joe's Pro Cycling Team (sorry for the shameless plug) :) www.jitteryjoes.com

Sorry for the long post, it's just that cyclists consider coffee to be a separate food group ;)

Does anyone else think Caribou's coffee tastes "funny"? I haven't been able to aquire a taste for it. It tastes burned or something. I can't put my finger on it.

Thanks for the info Polar! I am looking forward to trying Greenberry's!

I think the Caribou in Brambleton should be avoided. They are having some "internal" issues. They have been randomly closed; supplies are not being replenished; and the employees don't seem to give a hoot. Tried to order a vanilla latte and they had no vanilla syrup, or lids! Not good.

i'm with you. don't care for caribou at all. it's tastes odd to me too.

now if a peet's opened here, i'd be a happy girl! peet's makes great coffee. world market also has some great coffee for the home grinder (try the peaberry blend).

did anyone go to the starbucks coffee festival at the reston town center last weekend?

I like the coffee at Caribou just fine, but I'm no expert. The thing to get there is the hot chocolate, which is pretty good. They offer a special hot chocolate for kids that is not as hot and also has oreo cookie crumbs at the bottom. Yum!

The Caribou in Brambleton does not have a children's play corner like the one in Potomac Station, which was a mistake in my opinion. With so many children in the area, you'd think that would be a no-brainer.

Whenever I've bought a fresh cup of coffee at the Mom's Apple Pie store in Leesburg it's been pretty good. I like my coffee with lots of cream and sugar, though, so if you drink it black my opinion is probably irrelevant.

I love the Bean Scene.. it's especially nice when I drop my daughter off at the rink at 5:30 am to skate and I can go get a nice cup of coffee!!! The owners are wonderful. They support community efforts. I know when I have bought those discount cards for the various organizations in Ashburn.. they have advertised on them with 10% discounts.. (You know those cards.. they are $10-$15 and they have a variety of discounts to use on them) Where else outside of NYC can you get Lox on a bagel..ok ok..it's not a NY bagel.. with the right amount of cream cheese, onions and tomato and pay under 6 bucks? Bean Scene has it!
