Robert, understood. I know the races are supposed to be nonpartisan, and that's as it should be.

Lee, conflict is specifically defined under law, which is why I asked the question. Your question about Dietze does not meet the definition of conflict unless Steve were faced with voting to award a bid in which they were in consideration, or if they should submit a land use application--highly unlikely, as they are a construction company. Which you know, being in the business.

Barbara your are correct about Dietz, and that is why I have said this was always a grey area. Mainly because Dietz stands to gain handsomely everytime a commercial development is approved. As you know they are one of the leading construction companies in the dc area. The more commercial approved the more work. So would not steve and Dietz gain every time he approves a commercial development because of his employment by Dietz????????

Definitely something to think about if nothing more then it becomes a window into someones morals.

I agree with, Mr. Linux. This discussion should return to Lee's origninal topic: the school mess and how it is leading to government waste (see excerpts from posts above).

Has anyone ever seen an accounting of how much all of the planned new government schools in the county will cost? If there are any "estimates," I would like to see them. Of course, since this is government work, you have to take the "estimate" they give you and -- at least -- double it, becuase you would be hard-pressed to see a government job done on time and on budget!

A great President once said: "government of the people, by the people, for the people".

If you don't like it... LEAVE!

Finish the quote, please! Again, you are smarter than this, T8erman.

"...government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." We are likely to never to be able to get big government out of lives!

Also, could you please stop getting off topic??? As I said before, I agree with, Mr. Linux. This discussion should return to Lee's origninal topic: the school mess and how it is leading to government waste (see excerpts from posts above).

I know the quote, but with your thinking, you have no use or want for government. Or is it that you want the government your way only and to heck with the rest of the people?

You seem to want to make our government a convenience. Pay for stuff (child healthcare) but have no say in it.

Government should exist to follow the will of the people, not to impose its will on the people. Anyone reading (or quoting, as you did) the Gettysburg Address should understand that!!!

Please get back on topic. Again, as I said before, I agree with, Mr. Linux. This discussion should return to Lee's origninal topic: the school mess and how it is leading to government waste (see excerpts from posts above).

Do me a favor Gryphon, let ME moderate the users. You asking people to stay on topic is too ironic...

Did you get that estimate from a big government bureaucrat? It sure sounds like it.

No, because based on your logic I AM a big government bureaucrat.

I get paid by my company, who gets paid by the government, who gets their money from taxes.

I would be genuinely curious as to which boom, building or post 9/11, generated more profit for their respective companies.

And then we can talk about where that profit was further disseminated.

I know I did not get a big post 9/11 pay raise. Bet you made a ton tho. :D
