I would like to find a restaurant not too far (Leesburg, Ashburn, Sterling, if possible, but Herndon or Reston if necessary) that fits the following:

    1. A party of two can have a reasonably tasty dinner, drink, maybe a dessert to share, for less than $100
    2. Adult oriented, relaxed, comfortable, not rushed, cozy, not too loud
    3. Plays good music, extra credit for an actual live piano! Again, not too loud.
Hubby and I have a date night coming up and if we can find one place that fits the bill above, we're THERE! If no such place exists, can you suggest where we might find a good spot that meets criteria 1 and 2 above and then another place where we might go afterwards that meets criteria 3? Not looking for a nightclub... rather someplace we can go have a beer or glass of wine, relax, listen to some music but that is quiet enough we could still have an actual conversation.

I'm hoping Lansdowne fits the bill, but am not yet sure. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Tusky's in Leesburg - although I don't think they have a piano - or Landsdowne the lower restaurant has piano - not sure on the prices for food though

+1 for Tuskie's (Tuscarora Mill). You might go a bit over the $100 limit, but you'll be glad you did. When you call to make reservations, make sure you let them know that this is for a special occasion and you'd like some privacy. Although, as excellent as the customer service is, when you make the reservation, you could just say, "We're having a rare night out, could you seat us somewhere quiet?" They will most likely take care of you.

+2 for Tuskie's! We had our anniversary dinner there the other weekend and it totaled about $125 (with 2 glasses of wine). www.tuskies.com

Not Your Average Joe's was nice for a date night! Cafe Panache also has a nice atmosphere for date night.

But I too- have to vote for Tuskies- what a great menu and nice atmosphere! you may go over $100 if you drink wine, but it will be worth it. Our fave lace for date night has always been Ruth Chris. It's further out than you are requesting, and more expensive, but what a superior experience from start to finish!

The piano bar at Ned Devines on Rt 7 is always good for a nostalgic laugh, if the cigar smoke doesn't bother you. It's not typically HEAVY smoke, but you'll find other 30-40 somethings there on date night as well and it's an interesting change of pace.

    enjoy your date night!

If you want some place a little different you might want to take a look at Russia House in Herndon. On Friday & Saturday they have strolling musicians. They also have a huge vodka menu.

Zeferilli's in Herndon is nice. Wife loves The Dock. Dante's in Great Falls (right behind the mill).

the jacket room at clydes would be a nice place too - love those chairs in that room....Cafe Panache is very interesting - but the wine is over priced compared to bonefish, or even clydes (in my opinion)

Been to Panache and it just didn't grab me. I loved it when it was 321, though. Clydes... hadn't thought about that one.

My Lansdowne thread is getting some traffic too, and I think we're gonna try that. Dinner by the fireplace in the tavern (since I've been told it's non-smoking) and then we'll head over to the other spot with the piano for a glass of wine and some vegging out.

That sounds like a good plan - although I miss having cigars at Stonewalls - it doesmake for a nicer evening

If you like Tuskie's, don't mind driving a little farther and saving a few dollars, try Magnolias at the Mill in Purceville. It's a sister restaurant to Tuskie's, has a lot of similarities and costs a few dollars less.

We did. We hung out at Stonewalls, ate, drank, watched football, and I kicked rharse's butt at shuffleboard. A few times.
