What don't some of us get?!?! Just because you think a hospital is a bad idea that the rest of us should agree with you? "SHOULD NOT BE A HOSPITAL BUILT HERE", what wonderful, compelling argument you put forth Yoda!

And if approved, Broadlands will still be a quiet, nice, tree-line community - with a tree-lined, state-of-the-art hospital on the PERIPHERY!

Guess the HOA should check with you from now on for any other additions to Broadlands since you "get it".

    JEESH!

I am not trying to be compelling. Read the email Einstein. No statistics or data. Again, just my common sense opinion.

It is obvious your post is not compelling Yoda. So I will post one you can understand...

Hospital want do I, just because!
Is this the type of logic and reasoning you are looking for?

Look, there is nothing wrong in being against the hospital but at least TRY to use some logic or some "concrete" evidence to support your position.

Why do you and Keirce get to post your opinion and not me??? I am trying to appeal to your emotional side from a logical perspective. The evidence is there. The historical votes are in. You can find it all over the internet. I am trying to avoid all that stuff and see if you and others have some sense.

I love the arrogance from the architect and the concrete person (building related theme, here?!).

If you are against the hospital, you have "common sense" or just "sense." If you are for the hospital, then obviously you don't have common sense or any sense.

I predict in 2008 this hospital will be rejected again.

And will be rejected until they find another site.

It will not be a boon much for the local restaurants as most hospital personal don't leave the building during work.

Hospitals always have their in house food service.

It will increase traffic on waxpool which is our immediate concern not belmont, and they have zero solutions for that. Our last waxpool task force was a bust and joke for almost a year. As I attended and nothing of importance was discussed how to solve waxpools problems just more meetings and talk. I don't know how many times the same power point presentation was shown but one too many.

And for all of you that think I am dishing the last Waxpool task force as a joke for almost a year you are correct and if you can't see the problem you will never have the solution. Road improvements take years and years to build once the have the money. Anyone that has been over to wegmans lately can attest that new shopping center which is mostly empty is starting to create the largest traffic nightmare yet. And the solution is years and years away by the time it is corrected.

I believe there should be a moratorium on all new construction until the waxpool traffic problem is solved and built and finished before one new anything is built anywhere in the waxpool corridor all the way to belmont road and beyond including this new hospital which is going to do nill for waxpool except make it worse. Belmont ridge the section the hospital wants to be is not in near the bad shape as waxpool so all that money if the hospital is built needs to go to improve waxpool NOT belmont at the moment. Just like loudoun 1 is going to build an offsite interchange on rt one where it is needed most at the moment.

Thank god I don't have to commute because I don't see anything in the works that will solve waxpool anytime in this decade and beyond.

So you are trying to appeal to our emotional and community interests on one side then try to ridicule our common sense on another?

    Interesting tactic. :screwy:

Give up, T8er. Lee and Concrete know more than you. You're just an idiot who needs more enlightened people to make decisions for you.

That is why we have professional planners that do this for a living so the armchair people don't mess things up.

ANd so far most of you are talking through your hats as doubt many of you have looked at the complete plans and documents and can you understand them what you really are getting.;) And are there any independent studies done on any of this. Further you would not tell your doctor how to operate and if you disagreed you would get several more independent opinions. :happygrin:and yet many of you seem to be a professionals when it comes to building something ha ha ha If some of you are so knowledgeable then your homes must perfect. Hmmm the other big theme here seems how the builder or sub screwed me. That is exactly why I would never recommend a good subcontractor on any forum.;)

Interesting how this hospital debate has really got peoples blood boiling on both sides of the argument and the character assassinations have been really showing some here their true colors hmmmmmm

If this debate was not so important it would be very amusing and I am sure the personal attacks are going to continue until this hospital is voted down or approved. ;)

I have seen no one here offering to give out a complete set of plans or documents for any of us to study just plenty of personal attacks on both sides instead of facts.
And plenty of just shut up I know best for you again on both sides especially the pro hospital side. If your case for this hospital is so strong then there is no need for the attacks and the facts will speak for themselves. So far I have seen no facts only a very brief look at the plans that raised some red flags to me and needs a closer look if I only had the plans and documents to study:happygrin: Perhaps they are no longer available to people that would and want take a hard look and make up their own mind.

Lee, don't you see THIS is YOUR entire argument and attitude! All hail the architect who knows everyone important and more than we do. Wow. Arrogance and guile all wrapped into one.

LEE! I, for one, DO NOT CARE WHAT THE BUILDING LOOKS LIKE!

And you are the one of a few who seems to care about the plans, documents, infrastructure and what type of crown molding they are going to use.

Give the architecture slant a rest. I think most of us know by now that you dabble in it ;). I see "architecture" or related words in your posts and my eyes start to glaze over. Start to mention "architecture" and "quads/twins" (sorry Foodie :D) and you are not invited to HHs anymore! ;)

You guys are hilarious and yes the site plan does tell us what is really going to be built there and what the buffers are all about and the documents tell us if they even have been done reliably about traffic and noise and if this is an appropriate site for this hospital or at least gives us an insight of how they collected this data and is it correct. The hospital was VOTED DOWN the last time by an extremely pro growth board, but since they disagree with you all I guess they don't count. Around here if you disagree you might get your character assassinated for doing so. I have not seen one hard fact on these boards as to why this hospital should be built. I hear a lot of opinions but not many facts. Belmont widen????? we need waxpool first jobs and taxes??? that will go wherever this hospital is built in this county. I hear more that some of you seem to want to have your own private hospital on your doorstep, not a compelling reason to build one here. Needs to be far west on the toll road. well that was when they thought the transition area would become suburban well that is never going to change. the major popuation growth now is between the toll road and south riding so would it not be better to build it in the middle of the new growth around brambleton or further south where there is a lot of land sitting there empty. not on the far edge of it of growth were it is proposed right now. Inova has and is expanding tremendously to take care of the existing population on it's side of the county. You all sound like a bunch of cry babies saying things I don't like the care at inova well a lot of people do like the care at inova including the care I received on a busy Saturday with almost no wait or we hear I don't want to drive a couple of miles. Well many of you sit in the waxpool traffic for an zillion hours a year and yet the priorty for this hospital is belmont improvements which is for the hospitals benefit more then ours at the moment certainly not for waxpools benefit.

I will say this very LOUD THE MAJOR RESIDENTIAL GROWTH IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE BETWEEN BROADLANDS AND SOUTH RIDING THE TRANSITION AREA WILL NEVER BECOME SUBURBAN LIKE THE LAST BOARD WANTED SO NO BIG GROWTH WEST OF BROADLANDS IN THE NEVER TO BE CHANGED TRANSITION AREA. THE MORE IN THINK ABOUT IT THE HOSPITAL WILL DO THE MOST GOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AREA BETWEEN BROADLANDS AND SOUTH RIDING.

Did I shout loud enough :)

OK t8 now about that HH what did you say??????? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ;) who would you have to kick around if I am not there ha ha ha ha ha ;) If any of the others around here got beat up as much as I do you would be thinking more about a mental hospital then a regular one. Thank god I am here to be beat up on, I feel like I am doing a public service for these forums ha ha ha ha ;)

Post all your quotes and it comes out the same: Lee, don't you see THIS is YOUR entire argument and attitude! All hail the architect who knows everyone important and more than we do. Wow. Arrogance and guile all wrapped into one.

Now you are spinning yourself as Lee the martyr! You make inane comments and crucify yourself with your own comments. Clueless.

I needed to take a break from the character assasinations that some of you do to myself and others that post on this forum. It really is incredible how nasty a few of you are. I have had to get used to the dispicable behavior that some of you show over the last several years, and while I don't appreciate the misinformation that is said about me, I guess in the long run one just has to consider the source.

Someone was asking about the results from the last Hospital survey that was done for the Broadlands residents.
So no one mischaracterizes that this is not factual, you can easily do a search in these forums to find this information.

824 surveys out of 2082 mailed were returned (40%).
53 were invalid (no name or address, 2 boxes checked, no boxes checked, or 2 received from the same household) which left 771 valid responses.
357 did not support the hospital (46%).
318 did support the hospital (41%).
79 have not received enough information (10%).
    17 had no opinion (2%).

I will address a few mistruths that were stated:

    Competition in healthcare:

Hospitals are able to bring in new services, new subspecialites, etc based on the average census that a hospital has. A hospital is only able to bring new services on line if the census shows there is a need. 2 hospitals competing for the same patient base, same physician and nurse pool will not be able to bring in those new services because each hospital will therefore be operating at a low census and the proficiency will not be there for the new service (because the demand has not been met). A hospital has to do a certain number of procedures, etc to continue to provide that service and if those numbers are not there then the service is not provided.

Since some of you are trying to compare this to fast food, let's see if this same scenerio plays out... 90% of the population eats burgers, therefore 2 competing fast food franchises will survive, but 90% of the healthcare population does not need triple bypass surgery, therefore only one hospital will be proficient in offering that service, therefore the number of patients needing that service will best be served by the hospital that has done the most of that procedure and has the best trained physicians...therefore that hospital, based on the census for that service will survive by doing that procedure...not 2 hospitals operating at a low census with phsycians only doing a few of those procedures. Where would you rather go...a hospital that does 1000 by-pass surgeries or one that does 2?

To show there is a bed shortage or significant need a hospital has to operate at around a 99% bed capacity, Loudoun has been operating at around a 76% capacity...for several years...

As mentioned also, the difference between an office park and a hospital is simple... a hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year... an office park doesn't... it's typically 9 to 5 monday thru Friday.

The residents who bought here and did their research as to what could be built in this community were OK with a planned office park and hence bought thier homes. Other hospitals around this area where there first and residents CHOSE to move there, not the other way around.

I know the informtion I have, deal with, rely upon and share is factual, and while it differs from some of you posting on this forum it does not mean it is wrong or biased.
