Movers damaged some pieces of furniture from my aunt's estate, one of which is an antique that's been in my family for generations and is of tremendous sentimental value to all of us. My mom won't trust just anyone to fix it - does anyone have a recommendation?

Don Rogers has done wondrous work restoring many of my older antiques. He is reasonably priced. I usually have him also take the darker stain off to get it close to what it looked like. when you have damage you'd never believe it was there once he brings it back to you. He and his "partner" Jo Forcino will come to your house and bring it away...last I heard he was living in Boyce -Western Loudoun. He does a finish called "French Polish". It is pretty and the caveat is that you can only use a non-waxed polish: I use Endust.

Call him at 540-837-1171 I haven't seen him for a year. He's Great!

I've used Miller Restorations several times for different projects.

    http://www.millerrestorations.com/

They're located in The Plains but pick up and deliver (for a fee, due to the cost of transportation these days)

I would add that when Don does his restoration his furniture never reeks at all...Like some places where it takes months of airing out to get the smell out
