My kids aren't school age, and we plan to move before they start kindergarten, so I'm only now trying to figure out what elementary, middle, and high schools our house is connected to. The Loudoun County Public Schools website is having trouble. Any ideas? We're in Overland Park.

Right now it's Hillside Elem, \Eagle Ridge MS, Briar Woods HS.
But this could change a half dozen times over the next several years!

Thanks all! Since we're moving, I'm very interested in what it is right now.

what about your immediate neighbors? although Cliff's answer is pretty likely right, they could tell you where THEIR kids go, and then you know with certainty!

    You doubt my certainty????? :nono:

I attended many a school board meeting to ensure Overland Park stayed with the rest of Broadlands!

    Redon,

We never became friendly with our neighbors (at least the ones with school-age children) and part of that was by design. We always planned to move before our youngest started kindergarten.

Thanks for the answers, everyone! :)

Wow! I can't imagine depriving my child of establishing potential friendships just because I know there may be an end or separation. What's next, not letting your child date to avoid heartbreak?

GeauxTigers, I think my kids will be OK with their friends in their age group (my younger son is 1) rather than kids who are school-aged, but thank you for your kind concern. I'll be sure to heed your salient advice when it comes time for them to date.

mrsb, i think it was your original quote that probably sounded very "un-neighborly" to many on the forum, hence Geaux's comment. It just made it sound like you intentionally were not friendly with certain neighbors. I guess we misread the context.

Ummm, OK! What I meant was, we didn't go out of our way for a variety of reasons which I didn't think I needed to get into here. I kind of expected people to simply tell me what school my kids would go to, rather than making veiled suggestions and rash assumptions. Strange. Thanks again to those who answered my question.

Msrb, Silence said it a little better. Honestly you just hit a nerve regarding how unfriendly in general people seem to be, at least around where I am. After several years of living here it's hard to get more than a return nod from a passing neighbor aside from a small few so I was irked by the thought of one intentionally not being friendly. My apologies for making a comment that seemed to attack one's parenting. That really wasn't my goal.

Again - it's the "I don't want my kids to have friends and then have to leave them" excuse. Kids learn life lessons from disappointments, separation, etc. Why do parents seem to want to shield their kids from these life lessons? I just don't understand it myself.

well they came here for simple answer and got it- let's make THAT a different thread so it's relevant to the topic... not to try and play admin- just trying NOT to make a new poster feel singled out and uncomfy.

i know... protecting from a life lesson... lol :)

Thank you Redon. Seems there's a handful of posters very good at what they do (anonymously). A number of forum(ers) I've talked to in the community will not post opinions on the forum for fear their opinion will be attacked.

Now, having said something pretty benign I expect I will be accused of doing the same thing by putting it in print:rolleyes3:

Wow you could at least have feigned your innocence. Your remark is admission enough. Thank you for making it easy. Hope you have a fun afternoon too!

Now, back to the thread and the important issue - School!

you have to have a thicker skin in an online social setting than a face-to-face one. ppl have what i call "e"muscles, similar to beer muscles! lol they say things here and respond in a way that they would NEVER do in person.

that said- i know PLENTY of folks on this boards who say the same thing in person, onine, on the phone, they are REAL.

regardless, the topic is pretty much closed, but DID open another door to a poll if geauxtigers or tyger31 care to start one...? ;)
