    Fellow Foodies--

I have an opportunity to provide as a SEPARATE BUYING CLUB FRESH DAIRY PRODUCTS (Creamline Milk--Whole to Skim, Non-Creamline Milks, Butters, Yogurts, Amish Cheeses, Fresh Ice Cream, Organic Eggs, Buttermilk, Flavored Milk drinks, etc.) from Chambersburg, PA area.

Trickling Springs Creamery which is what the Lancaster County Dutch Market in Germantown, MD carries as well as other Amish/Mennonite Markets, Health Food Stores in Northern VA, Whole Foods Markets, and several well-known restaurants (Restaurant Nora and Harry's Bar)--just to mention a few places--has a MINIMUM ORDER OF $200 PER ORDER FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. Therefore, since we have contacts with the dairy in PA, I am looking to form a BUYING CLUB LIKE THE TUSCARORA PRODUCE BUYING CLUB for the Northern VA areas. The dairy is a great dairy that features Amish & Mennonite milk products, etc. Their quality and service is superb! Great local food source.

We are looking to carry their products in the future for our business and thought this would be a great way to "test the waters". The Buying Club would work just like UNFI's Buying Club. Different products for you to try fresh from PA area farms.

For those of you interested--please view their web site and post if you are interested on this thread. The milk is bottled in glass half gallon bottles or plastic jugs as well as quart and pint sizes. Also, you can purchase flavored milk and real buttermilk! We prefer the glass because light sometimes can change the color of the milk flavor. Yes, this is true! The milk is Certified Organic and they also have Non-Organic milk and dairy products. Please feel free to ask questions or PM me with concerns.

Web site is below with links--

With fuel prices soaring and everyone's time limits pushed--I might be able to have the Milk Buying Club and the Produce Buying Club deliveries on the same days. Please let me know--good eats!!

it owuldn't interest me but i'm sure here are others who mght be.. our schedules are too sporadic to be concerned about deliveries, and we don't eat or drink anything regularly enough to have an order worth delivering.

lately we've bcome somewhat european in the way we shop- twice a week, we shop for exactly what we've decided we want to eat that day. we entreevous so much that we don't buy anything for dinners but side dishes on occasion.

    redon1 and others--

Thanks for responding. Yes, for small families you may think you would not use this service; but buying and splitting costs with others will work for some shoppers.

    Fellow Foodies--

Just to "bump" this thread a bit. Is anyone interested in participating delivery of FRESH, ORGANIC, AND GREAT MILK AND OTHER DAIRY PRODUCTS FOR HOME DELIVERY? Just read the previous posts regarding Trickling Springs Creamery dairy product line.

Even though we milk our own Dexter cows for our own consumption, I thought you "foodies" might wish to partake of this great dairy line. The milk and dairy products are from Amish and Mennonite farms in Chambersburg, PA and surrounding PA areas. Of course, the milk and other products are USDA certified Organic and Non-Organic.

We have toured the processing plant and it is very clean and well run. Their ice cream is great as well as their yogurts, milk, butter, buttermilk, half-and-half, etc. Home delivery is possible or we can form a Buying Club for better discounts.

With the fuel costs rising, this is a great time to not have to shop or venture into the grocery stores.

    Just let me know.

What kind of costs are we looking at for this buying club. That would make a lot of difference to me on whether this was a good/viable option. We drink a lot of milk in my house (5+ gallons a week) so if it were economical then I would do it.

We will be interested. Is there a fee to join this club? What will it cost me to get one dozen eggs and 3 gallons of milk a week?

    Thanks

I'd definitely be interested. Have you had enough interest so far to start a delivery with the creamery? Do you happen to know of any place that sells raw milk locally if we'd be willing to pick it up in the meantime?

    Thanks!

Has anyone tried South Mountain Creamery outside Frederick,MD? http://southmountaincreamery.com/

Their website says they deliver to 20147, but not 20148 yet. Maybe we could get them to come down here.

    Fellow Foodies--

Marianne had PM'd me recently regarding the FRESH BOTTLED MILK deliveries for a possible CSA/COOP idea. The minimum order is still $200.00. Of course, you can "split costs" with others. I can arrange for Trickling Springs to deliver to Broadlands fresh yogurt, ice cream, bottled Certified Organic Milk, Creamline Milk, Buttermilk, Chocolate Milk, Butter, etc. for a COOP if interested.

I spoke with the Trickling Springs representative today; and she is emailing the current price list to me today. As soon as I have the new price list, I will post it on this thread as an attached link.

Post here your interest please. Read the previous posts and check out Trickling Springs' web site info.

On a sidenote, I will post on the "Got Apples..." thread when I will have your apples and other "goodies". Probably on 11/17/08 will be delivery.

    Thanks again.

We are untested. Common joke in our family is that we SHOULD have a dairy cow in the backyard, We drink milk with lunch and dinner (every night) and have it of course with cereal, tea and such. On the average week with 3 of us home we go through about 2-3 gallons. when Kaos boy comes home it goes up to 4.

I buy Kerrygold's Irish butter as I think it tastes closet to what you get from a cow, originally being from the midwest...now if we could only get steaks like we used to get in my home state of Illinoi...yummy fat...

    mrdoctor and others--

Yes, of course, we have pigs--we raise cattle, poultry, and pigs on our farm. Unfortunately, we are not licensed to sell to the general public as of this date. We raise pigs which are called Tamworth. The Tamworth pigs are a rare Heritage breed of pigs which originated from Britain. The pigs are pasture fed and produces great pork products.

We also have Dexter cattle which we milk for ourselves and produce our own beef. If you are interested in grassfed meats, poultry, and other pastured products, check out the following web site/info.

www.eatwild.com (Eat Wild's site/info for grassfed meats, dairy, etc.)

    Good luck--

Maybe one day we will be able to sell to the public. For now it is for ourselves and family members.

    Thanks for your interest.
