I don't normally post threads like this, but this morning I was pushed over the edge and feel I have to alert area drivers.

There is a late 2001-2004 Silver Acura TL-S sedan with tinted windows that comes from the Crosin Lane side of Claiborne in the mornings that is a mad man. The driver seemed to be of larger stature -- not fat, but not a skinny guy. Dark hair from what I could tell.

This morning he tailgated me the entire way down the road near Glory Days/Harris Teeter, then proceeded to blast past me and a bus as we made a left at the dead end to head towards the Greenway.

As I made a right onto Shellhorn this ahole was in the right lane and became stuck behind a car. I was in the left behind an SUV. I was alongside the freak and he literally pushed me out of my lane and into the turn lane so that he could get around his slow car. If I had not moved over, he would have broadsided me and caused at least a 3 car accident. No blinker and I know he saw me because my passenger door was next to his drivers door.

He then spead up Shellhorn to the LCP intersection, whereby he barely stopped before crossing. I had my horn on him the entire way, he made zero gesutre that he even acknowledged his recklessness.

He did about 85mph down LCP before making a right on Waxpool and then blasting and weeving in and out of lanes down waxpool. I lost him as I turned onto Pacific he continued to Rt. 28.

I've seen this car before, but he was only tailgating and speeding, so I had thought nothing of it. But this morning I solidified the rudeness, pure carelessness and the audacity this driver had.

So,if you see this car, be warned. I plan on getting his license number and or following him home next time I see him.

    Be careful.

    -C

while a big part of me wants to follow YOU following him home to watch the fireworks, the rational part of me thinks you should get his license plate number, report it to the sherrif's office along with the times and locations they can see him in action, and let them handle it.

if he drives that aggressively and dangerously, imagine what kind of confrontational, lunatic fringe personailty he might have.

but- if you won't be deterred from following him, let me know when it's going down- i'll make a ton of dough selling the footage on youtube! :) (that's a joke ppl.)

oatmeal... I'll have to give some of that to The Man next time HE gets the urge to do the same thing you discussed! lol

he HAS followed crappy drivers in the past, confronted them and umm- strongly voiced his opinion of their behavior on the road. :) it's never turned physical but i always have to remind him that someday he might roll up on someone slightly crazier than him or armed...

    it's never a good idea.

703 771 5798 Is the Loudoun county traffic hotline. Please report it when you get a chance it will help increase the all patrols in the area
You do not need a tag number just a time of day and a location of the violation.

Did you happen to notice if the rear tag had a Penn State license plate frame?

Hmm, not 100% sure. To be honest I was just so pissed that little details like that I didn't catch. I know for a fact he had tinted windows though. And I know it was a silver TL.

Since so many people don't park their cars in their garages, you could take a drive through the neighborhood(s) over there in the evening and see what you can find.

<<this is not intended to be vigilante justice, just an idea to get an address>>

I wouldn't necessarily guarantee that the person lives in one of our neighborhoods--ever since they connected Croson to Claiborne and opened up the access from Belle Terra, there has been quite an increase in pass-through traffic. Those of us living off of Croson have had to be a little more attentative to the traffic now.

I completely agree with you - it seems folks traveling North bound on Caliborne from Croson toward Wynridge are reckless at best.

That's what I mean - if they're coming from that direction then they probably live in one of the subdivisions off Croson, not in Broadlands. I don't know why they don't just take Croson to Old Ryan Road and go that way. Seems it would be shorter. Is there a lot of traffic that way?

I didn't know that Bella Terra connected to Croson - I've only seen it from the LCP side. Or that a street off Ridgeway connected to a street that connects to Belmont Ridge. I'll have to do some cruising in my spare time and see what's new.

Well, I live in one of the developments off of Croson and we take Claiborne to get out because it's safer. Making a left turn from Croson onto Old Ryan Road is unsafe, and I'm not going to jeopardize my family going that way. If they'd just complete Moorefield Parkway, I wouldn't have to go the Claiborne route, but that's a whole other discussion.

As for the Belle Terra connection, it exists but you have to go over the river and through the woods winding through there to get to LCP or vice versa to Croson.

i drive down Old Ryan in the morning and that IS a dangerous road to pull out onto. people FLY around those blind curves- I can't believe how fast they drive, crossing over the center line and swerving to avoid li'l ol' me going the speed limit in my own lane.

I was running the other night, (ok jogging) and a convertible Trans-Am was racing around Broadlands Blvd. I was tempted to throw my water bottle inside as he peeled away from Clydes, but my brain got in the way! Instead, I just hollered "Slow down, bud!" I don't know if he didn't hear me, or didn't care, but he just drove away, after making the third high-speed u-turn in about 90 seconds.
