Have been traveling a little but noticed tonight that the speed limit on Waxpool and Truro Parish was raised to 45 MPH. I know that a lot of people were already doing that speed, but now people will be 50-55 with some tough intersections for pedestrians and cars to deal with cars at 50 MPH.

It was always higher on the waxpool side and then dropped once you got near the schools... Is it all the way now?

West of Waxpool where it turns into Truro Parish is now 45 MPH which use to be 35. It is also 45 MPH west of Claiborne where I thought it was 40 MPH.

There was an accident right in front of the Dunkin Donuts today involving a school bus and a car. Hopefully nobody was hurt. I wonder if 45mph is just too fast...especially since there are a couple of schools on that stretch.

Get ready for more accidents there now that the speed limit is higher, especially on school mornings. That's always been a dangerous intersection (I was a witness to an accident there that went to court) and with the speed limits raised I think it will only get worse.

I am betting the the accident today was due to a few factors:
    - Snow/ice blocking portions of lanes.
    - ERMS had Honors awards today and the ending time of that coincided with parents dropping off kids. The entire parking lot/lanes at ERMS was, well, a PARKING lot!
    - As a result of poor planning by the school, people were getting impatient.

On a side note, I have already sent a note to Principal Phillips regarding the schedule time for the Honors awards and how it totally screws up dropping off and traffic.
