Their is a SUV that has been parked on Village Drive right in front of the common area park at Windover for about 2 weeks now. It dosen't seem to have moved all this time. Who should we contact about this? I didn't think the hoa allowed for vehicles to be parked in front of common areas like that.

Maybe they're on vacation? Unless there is a yellow curb I think it's allowed. Is the SUV a junker? On blocks? Rusty? On fire? Those are all clear signs of abandonment. ;)

Actually, you should report ANY strange car to the police. They would prefer it be a false alarm than risk you not contacting them andit having to do with some fishy business.

I remember last year there was a car abandoned on Vestals Gap. It had 2 or 3 tickets on it and a sticker on the windshield. It was eventually towed away.

There is currently an "abandoned" car on Demott near the Arbors apartments. It's got no tags and a rejected inspection sticker on it. Hopefully the apartment management will take care of that one.

Its not a junker, its a nice suv. But if it was a broadlands resident who was on vacation, why not park it in their own driveway or on the street in front of their house?

In my part of the neighborhood all the Townhomes park on the street b/c:

    (1) Garage is full of stuff other than car
    (2) Garage only big enough for one car and they have two
    or my personal favorite:

    (3) The Hummer can't fit throught the entrance.

I agree that it should be reported and investigated. Not to sound alarmist but playing devil's advocate, what if one were testing the waters seeing what kind of reaction if any a strange vehicle attracted by being unattended and parked for a period in a nice community? Does the vehicle have tinted windows? What could cause more havoc and fear than by having an incident involving a common vehicle in a good residential community? I think it is our duty as residents to report and ensure that such matters are investigated.

Ummm... I really doubt that Broadlands is the target of any WMD. The kill rate would be way to low.

Hahaha. You said it. I also live in one of the Broadlands townhome sections. We are one of the very, very few homes that can actually park two cars in the garage. People just have way too much "stuff".

It may also be that house are too expensive here. When people move herefrom less expensive areas, they may not be able to afford the single family homes here, and may have to use their garage for storage.

That is true. But I have a rule: "If I don't miss it after two years it goes"

But I guess my thinking is, what if this person is not a broadlands resident.

So what if it is? As long as it's legally parked, isn't an eyesore, and isn't on fire I don't see a problem with it.

Are there current plates, registration, and a city sticker on the car? If not I would call the police. If everything is current I really don't see a problem. That said it isn't parked in front of my house!!;)

Now way to tell w/o running the plates. Is this SUV an eyesore? I'd rather not live in a place where I have to worry about wether I'm allowed to hold a friends car while they are away or not.

Plus if the road is maintained by the state I don't think anything can be done if it has tags up to date.

I wouldn't worry about people outside the community dumping cars in the neighborhood. It's not like it's on blocks and rusted out. An SUV is expensive and I'm sure there is an innocent reason behind why it is there.

    <Rant>
I'd also like not to see the HOA go all Draconian about watching thy neighbor. I was at a friends house in another HOA where the neighbors started complaining to the HOA over BLUE shutters. What is wrong with the color blue I ask you?

See that's different, long term parking in front of someone else's house is just rude. If it's on street on common area - as long as it doesn't cause problems I really don't think its worth getting upset about.

It mostly becomes a problem on Village with all the construction. When they park on both sides of the street that narrows it to a one lane road and there's enough traffice that it becomes annoying. Not to mention the parking situation at the pool when there's a meet. People actually think it's OK to park on Claiborne and block one lane of traffic.
