Yea Homer, that's exactly the place. I agree with you about parking space. There are definately 'regulars' who park there and they have the right to do so. My concern is when a car is parked there for an extended period of time and is in noticeable need of repairs. Add to that some expired tags, etc, and that's where I draw the line...

I have NO issues with the regular folks who park there. In fact, living in a townhome area, that's to be expected... Luckly, our street has more than enough extra parking on our square (Autumnwood Sq) to support everone's cars...

I agree. But this thread was started about a non-junker. But I do think that area gets a little crazy w/ cars. One side of that street should be yellow curbed.

The SUV belongs to a resident who lives on Arbor Greene Way (adjacent to where it is parked). It is a legal parking zone.

Plenty of teenagers in Broadlands can afford to buy a junker but maybe not get it into running condition without first making some more $$$. Just a thought........

I seriously doubt many parents here would 'allow such a vehicle to be seen' around their house...maybe in Manassas, but not here.

That's fine but then they (and their parents) need to make sure it has valid license tags and registration and they need to know the rules of parking (i.e. not parking facing the wrong way which Homer pointed out is a ticketable offense.)

"I'm just afraid this will be used to crack down on the residents on stupid stuff."
Ahh Homer, if you only knew....
Like the call that asked the HOA to require a neighbor to put up window shades......so their family didn't have to watch them have sex on the kitchen table....
Like the numerous calls that ask the HOA to call a neighbor and tell them to have their kids stop cutting across their lawn.
Like the endless calls asking the HOA to address barking dogs, noisy cars, noisy kids, noisy parties, etc., when these same people refuse to address the issue themselves or are even willing to be a witness to the complaint if the HOA tries to persue it.
But abandoned cars....we can handle. Call Wes with the location. If it doesn't have a current license and inspection, we can mark it and then tow it. If it appears to be properly tagged, but has not moved for numerous weeks and you believe it to be abandoned (not just a neighbor parking it in the street), call the sheriff's office. They have more authority to look into whether it is abandoned and remove it.

I'm not surprised but just let me point this out:

When my neighbor decided to have an electric amped band on Easter Sunday in his backyard w/ the natural ampitheatre that enhanced the noise so windows were futile I talked to him about it. And it almost came to blows. I called the cops - no law on the books had to resort to HOA to uphold my rights to enjoy peace and quiet in the house that I own.

When Drag racers were using my street to regroup during Isabell, I called the cops and took my car out there and told them off b/c I wasn' going to take it any more.

I am consider myself a settler. I take care of myself but when the natives become restless I will goto to the fort to get back up if I need it. That's what the HOA is for, too help us with those who are unreasonable, not to meddle in the small stuff. But when your so called rights infringe on someone else's rights they cease to be YOUR right.

I also want to add that I think the HOA has been surprisingly good in keeping its nose out of the small stuff and I'd like it to stay that way.
