I have been experiencing this for several days. I have a SB5100 with a Linksys router setup. Of course they said "its your router" so I took it out of the loop. They couldnt even get me online directly connected to pc via ethernet or USB. The tech didnt even know that the Cisco router in our area needs the modem to be shut down for at least 3 hours to reset.
Anyway i am back on the router and surfing, but about every 6-8 hours i cant get online. When this happens i still have all modem sync. I have to reboot the router and do a "repair" on the LAN connection via the pc and then i am fine again for another several hours.
Could this be due to the IP lease expiring? A tech is supposed to come out next week (gee what service?) and take a look.
Am I destined to have to reboot router twice a day?
    Help!

Nothing in the logs of the modem? I think the only reason you would need 3 hours to reconnect would be if somehow you rebooted your computer and then tried to use another mac address to obtain dhcp.

Regardless, you should directly connect (ethernet) your computer to the modem to eliminate the router as a possibility. Was the computer not getting an IP from Adelphia? Perhaps it was within the 3 hour window and since adelphia only lets 1 MAC address get an IP, it wouldn't let you connect if it still had the MAC of your router in the system.

You are right, the tech had me just reboot the modem so it was within the 3 hours. So, maybe i will try to uplug the modem tonight and try to directly connect to pc in the morning to see if i can connect.

Do you know MAC cloning works, i tried to enter my physical address on the MAC address cloning page of the router setup...but i couldnt connect when i tried that either.

I had horrible outages with Powerlink (Adelphia cable modem) and couldn't take the outages anymore. After a year of it, I unplugged my cable modem and digital cable box and turned them in. Went down to basic cable until I move and get satilite.

Digital cable was too slow for my taste. Cable modem went down a lot and for some periods down for days. My neighbor had the same problem.

Wish Verizon or Covad DSL was available in our area.

Careful what you wish for. There's a reason there's a class action lawsuit against Verizon DSL service. I have a site in Richmond where a Verizon tech decided to disconnect our service and not tell anyone to reconnect. We've been without DSL at that office for almost 2 months trying to get Verizon to fix their mistake.
