We went to American Flatbreads three times (to give it a good try) and won't go back. We believe in supporting local businesses and local farmsers but the food was too expensive and didn't care for the food.

Went twice awhile back. Terrible service and too expensive. Won't be returning. I guess we aren't the only ones avoiding it since it looks empty all the time.

I love American Flatbread and miss them very much now that we're not right around the corner from them.

Haven't eaten much pizza at all lately since no one else compares!

We went a couple times only because there was some kind of event going on (charity or a happy hour). It was alright, but too damn expensive. I'm not all into organic *that* much to pay *that* much more for pizza.

We like it because you can get toppings (mostly healthy too) that the chains stores do not carry.

Another fabulous dinner tonight for me and the kids. Thanks, Janice! You and your staff rock. Hopefully next time I can stay for the music... he sounded great warming up!

I too have noticed the "charge for the higher-priced half" and have never gotten a half and half pizza there again. I agree that the policy should be listed on the menu. However, I do love the pizza and get it on a regular basis. The ingredient quality is impressive.

that is standard though, isn't it? i would never expect to pay the lower price if one half is expensive. i mean, when you go to payless shoes and it's BOGO, you have to pay full price on the more expensive pair. it wouldn't make sense for the biz to take a loss on the more expensive item.

the problem here was pretty simple and had the customer been charged for 1 expensive and 1 cheaper since their combo was 1 full expensive and one full cheap, that would have meant THIS thread would never have come into existence... :)

FWIW, when I've gotten a pizza at Dominos half with toppings and half with just cheese, they always charge me the higher price.

People need to remember the AFB is a GIFT to this community. This restaurant is something of the quality and caliber that would be in Arlington, Bethesda, Crystal City, etc... but certainly not Ashburn where all we get are disgusting chinese takeout, generic thai, burger joints, and weird italian places.

People need to remember that AFB isn't trying to be Pizza Hut or even Sal's (And DO NOT get me going on the service at Sal's could those people BE more stupid, incompetent, and focused entirely on what's on TV???)

AFB is probably the best pizza in the DC region. Read Washington Post, Washingtonian, etc...

Just because we are blessed to have it in our neighborhood doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to follow Arlington pricing. I personally would rather pay a couple more dollars than drive 35 minutes to get great pizza if they left.

No I don't work for them. But Janice (The blond manager/co-owner) is fantastic and joy everytime we visit the restaurant.

That is true... and they premake many of the ingredients here in Ashburn and truck them to Arlington...

Evidently it's cheaper to do that and justifies the space here than pay Arlington Rent!

    Aren't restaurant economics GREAT!!!

AFB is a gift to the community? So why are we paying for it?

Got any kids? Most people consider them a gift too and you pay for them.

Well, maybe not so much a gift as they get older! :D
