Fun for all ages...high chairs are provided and it is a large, open, albeit, bit noisy space...I wouldn't see any reason why young children wouldn't be welcome

We went the other night to get a pizza to go.... sat at the bar with our kids and had a drink......

It took a long time.... but the Pizza was excellent.... really good high quality ingredients.

By far the best pizza I have had in NVA, and a very inviting environment.

We ate there last night with both of our kids (ages 2 and 5). It's pretty big, with high ceilings, so there is some background noise. So if your kids make some noise, it's not as painfully noticeable. The pizza was really good - we ordered 2 pies, but 1 would have been more than enough. We ended up bringing home an entire pie. The service was great. We will definitely go back.

We were there last night too with our kids (5 & 6). We ordered 2 pizzas also and took more than one home. My 6 yo, who is missing her top two teeth and has 4 other loose teeth, had trouble eating the pizza because it was chewier than we were used to. I told her that is what pizza is supposed to be like, not the bready, soggy stuff from Pizza Hut! We thought it was very good. Service was great too. They weren't very busy which surprised me. Glory Days was very busy, which also surprised me considering all the negative feedback I've seen about them.

Sadly, AF isn't open for lunch. We packed the munchkins in the car and headed out, only to find they don't open until 3:00pm. Bummer. So we ate at GD instead, where service was less than stellar.

Went last night and enjoyed it very much.

The pizza tastes "fresh" and is not a greasy type. The Dogfish Head on tap is AWESOME as is the selection of bottled beer. Not your run-of-the-mill domestic selection. They also have an excellent wine selection at fair prices.

The owners, Scott and Janice are gracious hosts and will answer any of your questions.

Now, if I could just talk them into a couple of TVs by the bar. ;)

I usually can't stand leftovers that are frozen then reheated, but I was stuck today. Reheated a slice of the Pepperoni & Peppers in the toaster oven at 325 for 10-13 minutes, EXCELLENT!

I guess I'm the naysayer - went there Friday night and ordered 2 flatbreads, including the special of the night. I know organic food is generally more expensive, but I'm sorry, $20 for a 14 inch vegetable pie is ridiculous. That and $2.50 for a bad tasting, watery soda (Lt. Raspberry) is out of my budget. Was very disappointed and we won't be back.

I forgot to mention, since I am in the service industry and I am a bit of a nerd about these things...

The bathrooms are beautiful and clean! Not an afterthought at all!

And about the cost of their pizzas...I can guarantee you that their food costs are the same if not higher in relation to the retail price of the pizza. You know the old saying...you get what you pay for!:smash:

    T8erman - please no tv's....

I would hope that folks' idea of out to dinner is to spend some time paying attention to their family. At a recent outing to Treviso's my husband and I encountered a family of four at a nearby table. Dad was on his cell phone most of the time, mom was writing some kinds of notes, and each of the kids had an electronic game. Here was a great opportunity to create one-on-one dialog with their family...and ask "What did you do at work/school today..."

I don't really see FBread as the place to stop by on the way home for a brewski and to watch the game/news -so I'd prefer they not put any tv's up. Glory Days is next door and has that wired...

But I like options and think the TV's would attract a few "bar sitting" patrons. Doubt there would be many families sitting at the bar. ;)

Don't worry tho, the owners have no intentions have adding any.

I can totally see what T8erman is saying about the TV's, but I think it is best that they are not putting any up.

The beer selection at Flatbread is Top-Notch and not expensive at all. Would I like to have a good beer and be able to watch the game, yes. But my like for the joint as it is makes that all go away.

We went tonight with our two little ones. Had a salad, one flatbread, a brewski... was terrific. We will definitely go back. I see that place as particularly cozy on a cool, cloudy fall day. But even on this sunny, warm, summer evening, it was excellent.

I got takeout from AFB and brought along my 3year old. I was a bit put off by the fact that they don't take call-in orders, but figured I'd hang out with my kid while I waited and test the environment on her. It actually was great - they have a huge bucket of crayons she could use to color her own pizza. They also gave her markers to build a little flag she could hang in the window. She was also entertained by a viewing of the big brick oven. All the while, I got to put down a nice Dogfishhead - one of my favorite beers. The pizza was good and a nice change of pace from the local standards.

My only wishes are that they'd a. take call-in orders and b. offer some different sizes on the pizzas.

They cannot afford to do a robust take-out business. They have the one oven that can handle 6-7 large pies and if they have alot of call-ins then the oven is constantly full and in-house customers would have to wait longer.

    Do they do Dogfish deliveries?

I can't find it in the stores and I now LOVE their IPA.

That's a pretty bad business model. I understand they don't want to sacrifice quality and service, but I think they're missing out on an opportunity.

No deliveries of any form. If you're looking for Dogfish, go to WineSmith in the Ryan Park Shopping Center. It's expensive ($9/6-pack), but worth it.
