wow- why on EARTH would you live someplace with almost 2.5 kids in almost every house?? why not live in Shirlington or Georgetown where DINKS and Cougars are all sipping trendy drinks and eating sushi, rejoicing the fact that they are not- or are no longer- burderned by snot-nosed germ machines.

do yourself a favor bladerunner, if you have to LIVE here, then DINE there- then you ge the best of both worlds- that is, if you like anything about Asburn...

This thread is a byproduct of what I call the Broadlands Forum triple five......if it isn't five star food with five star service five minutes after it opens, the Broadlands Forums food critics will attack it!

I partly agree... however, I think food quality should be ready to go when you open... otherwise why did you open??? However, service is always rough when a place opens and Anita's is trying they are making staff drive from all their other locations since they can't find enough people to work here in Ashburn.

you have to also remember who the reviewer is. is it someone from the say- midwest (I'm a Nebraskan- I can SAY that!) whose only other experience with mexican food is taco bell and taquitos from the Safeway frozen food section? or is it someone who's lived in the southwest who's eaten authentic tex-mex? or is it someone with latino family and friends who has many times over eaten real peruvian, cuban and mexican cuisine made with imported ingredients and created in a small kitchen full of grease and love?

i am in the 2nd and 3rd groups. if i am comparing Anitas to the real mexican food i've had in Arizona & Texas- well I may as well compare a big mac to a Ruth Chris filet since they are both beef products. but if I'm comparing Anitas to Taco Bell.... hmmm- taco Bell still wins- they use lossa lossa cheese and I love taco bell Fire Sauce! Don Pablos has tender steak in its very cheesy quesadillas, which is all I order there. that place in Reston that makes fresh tortilla chips is pretty good, but it's ALL Americanized- the chorizos, peppers, sauces, spices and other staples in authentic mexican cooking would gross some of you out.

bottom line- i hate Anita's cheese so i don't like any of their food.

Wow, redon1, your a good guesser, cause I do live in Shirlington but I have to commute near Ashburn for work. And yes, I thank god everyday of the week when I am sipping on my Mojito in DC that I don't have to deal with the day to day annoyance of soccer mom's, high school punks, and the rest of the drama living in a crime ridden and mediocre community such as Cashburn.

With such a cosmopolitan life, why are you interested in our less than mediocre community?

I am sure that the crime rate in Ashburn far exceeds that of south Arlington. Good one.

I must admit that my life BEFORE having a child and living in Arlington was no more exciting than it is now with a child and living in Ashburn. But then, I'm pretty boring. :boring:

Maybe in Shirlington the criminals are single people over 18 and there is no soccer. It's still the same old stuff day after day of gripping about something. Lack of parking, perhaps.

...it's easier to look down your nose at soccer moms & high school punks rather than face the reality of lonely studio apartment in Shirlington.

Funny thing is give or take 10 years Blade will most likely be living in 'the drama" and have a nice corner lot in a “mediocre community such as Cashburn”...LOL

BR- if i were you i'd feel almost the same way. crime ridden- puleeze. a few problems each month- read PG county'sdaily nes and see the diff. no one here is dying from drive bys ad getting bullets thru their living rooms. are our issues getting more serious? yes- that's what growth does. but it's still a great place to raise a family- and sorry, mediocre is all we can afford, and quite frankly, MORE than good enough since my "MEDIOCRE" neighbors are salt of the earth not hung up on how much more sqftg we could buy.

but i chose ashburn to raise my kid- and his needs come b4 mine. he's too young to have the jaded view of cashburn that you ( and yes- me sometimes) do- he loves having little leagues, cool bday parties to attend at laser tag and bowling alleys, a cul de sac full of friends who all have xboxes too, restaurants that let him draw on the table, trails we can walk or dog on with out pollution of cars in our lungs, and a school he can walk home from.

i like having neighbors with similar values- raise a compassionate, kind and street smart kid who gets great grades and has excellent manners. i like having a zillion choices so i can avoid the Anitas and frequent the Mariachis, if i choose.

to each his own, right blade? but i would love to know why you waste your time in this board with us boring, germ-bomb raising little league ferrying ashburnites- doesn't Shirlington have a message board where you can celebrate you DINK-dome rather than diss our suburban misery...?

(all tongue in cheek blade- you are WELCOME here in my book- like that red pepper inkorean food that looks soooo appetizing but you will regreat eating... :) ) just wanna know why you choose to sit at this table... ?

I used to live in AZ and I can't say I know what that is. Is it the same as "enchilada style"?

This makes sense then... "New Mexico Style" as in "from New Mexico". That's not tex-mex, it's not mexican. One of the best places in Scottsdale I used to go was also New Mexican food. Similar, but different.
