32? Wow...you grew up in the greatest video game generation never played a Super Mario or Zelda? Hard to believe. :)

Like I said, I'm 30 and married also...no kids tho...and play games all the time, the wife even enjoys Guitar Hero. :) I'm lucky to have an understanding wife and not some terrible nag.

I am with Neighbor, I do not understand camping out for a game system (new), which will be significantly overpriced at introduction. I can certainly see the lure of owning one but I never felt I had to be the first one on the block to have one.

What's really odd, is I went hunting for a used Xbox (original, not 360), and the store had some listed at about $110. Aren't they that much new nowadays? Or is it just capitalism (greed) at its best trying to eek more money out of unsuspecting consumers.

As for modern gaming, the only reason I am looking for the Xbox is to turn it into a MAME box for some classic gaming. Most modern games out there are pretty much rehashes or sequels to FPS. Give me and my wife unlimited Tempest and Milipede plays, and we'll see ya next week :)

last week i actually checked EBAY for the mighty INTELLIVISION!!!!! circle pad on the "controllers" with number pads....ahhh the good ol' days. i can get the system in an original box with about 50 games for the same price as an XBOX......do i relive my childhood--or enjoy what technology gives us??

    Don't buy the original

    - the games have been re-released to play on modern systems
    - you can play them in emmulation on any PC
    - the old controllers for the intellivision don't hold up anyways (the membrane switch technology back then sucked)

Re-live the games in modern fun :)

I have all the emulators, but I would like to have an old original NES and Atari 2600 with some games, just for the nostalgia factor.

    Like E.T. for the 2600 :)

How about Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for the Atari 2600? I still remember how excited I was when I figured out how to solve the final part of the quest.

So Brim, how much would you pay for my pristine E.T. for the Atari (and yes, I have the system, all the original controllers, and a whole slew of games... Vanguard, anyone?)?

Heh, I was half joking. ET was the worst game ever...they burried millions of them in the New Mexico desert.

I would like to play it again, I never bothered with an atari 2600 emulator. How much do you want for it? If I remember correctly, you have to use that RF transmitter box hook it up to the TV using channel 3 or 4...ugh.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't sell E.T. -- it's a hilariously simple game to win, and I think my [not-yet-existing] kids might get a kick out of it. The game I DON'T have that I'd like to get my hands on -- Pac-Man! We have the GBA version, but it's just not the same :)

Each time we go to Sams Club in Sterling on weekends, I always see about 6 in the 'cage' behind the cash registers.

I was at BB the other day and they had a "We have Wii's" sign up. I'm not sure if they're still there or not. Normally, Wii's come in on UPS to most of the local stores around mid-day. If you don't see them on the shelf it may be worth asking the store or department manager if they have any in the back. Target is also a good place to look for them.

I had to go the Ebay route (July this year). My daughter saved up the money for one, and I had no idea that they were so scarce. After reading that the shortage could go on past the holiday's and by many accounts into 2009, I couldn't make her wait as it took her so long to save that much money with baby sitting. So I caved and spent $100 over retail. As I understand it, you pretty much need to be there when they put them on the shelves. Good luck. :)

I talked to the VideoGame ToysRUs guy in the Sterling store today. He said the games are easy to find but the console is so difficult to find because of one piece that a manufacturer is having a difficult time producing; therefore there are not many consoles produced by Nintendo. Last Christmas this same employee saw the rush and waited until after Christmas to buy one for himself. He said he was surprised and disappointed to find they were difficult to find after the holidays too.

Better news: Toys R Us said they are getting a shipment this Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks to Pictor Guy and Audrey...I went in this morning and held one to buy later in the day. At this time there were 4 left. When I went in to buy early afternoon mine was the last one. I was almost tackled on the way to the register. Be careful. I didn't appreciate the nasty looks or being followed. Luckily I passed on this information and the two were fine. But very uncomfortable!

Good news to know: supposidly Wii Consoles are held in the back room or out of eyesight for this reason. Don't hesitate to ask the manager if there is one available.

Sounds like you got lucky. Usually, when they have some in stock on a Thursday, they keep them locked up in the back so that they have some on had for the sales that start Sunday morning. I bet that if you look at the Toys R Us flyer on Saturday, there will be an ad for Wi's for sale at TRU starting Sunday. Believe it or not, many stores actually have some in inventory, but don't tell anyone because they need to have them on hand for when they're advertised in their flyer later in the week...

Either way, congratulations! Our family LOVES our Wii... It's fun for the whole family, from the very young to the very old...
