Ditto on Lauberge Provencale. They have a very nice bed & breakfast which makes for a truly special getaway.

My Wife and I went to L'Auberge Chez Francois for a date night last year. We were hoping for a nice quiet setting only to find it was actually packed with families and even kids. Now, don't get me wrong, it was like a Red Robin or IHOP, but it also wasn't romantic.

This could have been just this night, so I won't say that is the norm.

We weren't overly impressed by the food, especially at those prices. One thing that totally had me floored was how pitiful the bread was. I know I know.. its bread. But its also a French restaurant and I expected halfway decent bread for crying out loud.

I think it came too over-rated.

If you want a nice quiet meal with excellent service and food, check out Dante's in Great Falls.

My question is - why would anyone take their kids to an expensive restaurant like that anyway????

I've actually been there a few times with children (not my own--who are not restaurant ready) but with my niece and nephew. We went to celebrate the 80th birthday of my father-in-law and so they kids joined us. I know that I have seem many such "family celebrations" at Chez Francoise and have never had a probelm with unruly/loud kids. If there are well behaved, I have no problem with them there.

Yes, I've eaten there and it was good. It is pricey, however it is worth it. Also be sure to dress-up (i.e. no jeans, etc).

The last time we went, we sat next to a family with 2 small boys (young men) in suits and little ties. They were very well mannered and even spoke English and French. They each ordered snails, frog legs and the two split a entree of bison, veal and vinison. I was impressed since now a days, most children do not eat anything other than chicken tenders. They were young, but old enough to sit in thier own chair, order in French and feed themselves. The funny thing is the Father did not wear a tie, only a sport coat and a pair of jeans. I've seen childeren there before and questioned it but those 2 young men changed my mind.
