This thread has been hijacked. Someone is trying to change the subject. It's pretty funny that Snow accuses Miller of seeing conspiracies around every corner, when his supporters really sound crazy on this board.

The thread topic: the LWV debate. Let's stick to it. You want to start another thread about Jim Burton, Scott York and FOIA requests, feel free. You want to talk about the forum, continue here.

Joy, as I was told a few pages ago, that is up to the admins.

The LWV debate seemed to center around a live chicken, at least according to the discussion here. Certainly more so than how the Broad Run candidates fared in order of success.

I don't know if this is a matter of disclosure for you, as the LCDC website doesn't even list all of their candidates on the main page, but may I ask if this page is still correct?

    http://www.loudoundemocrats.org/wp/?page_id=45

My opinion remains the same: everyone is supposed to look at the chicken, because of the supposed "new" group. The "new" group is on thin ice, along with the old group it came from, including some candidates.

As for the mailers I got today, why on earth would the Herring campaign feel the need to go so negative, using the FBI hook? Phillips didn't even get a debate, and what does Herring have to do with county government anymore?

The primary topic I've heard about with remaining investigations (note: hearsay) is possible administrative approval for what should have been legislative items, which is why there's a stoplight near the Ice House that nobody quite knows how it got there.

    But that's probably off topic.

I suspect "everyone is supposed to look at the chicken" because Snow didn't bother to show up and address them. The alternative would be to watch the paint drying during the periods in which Snow was supposed to present or rebut arguments.

Trying to spin Snow's refusal to appear in a public forum into some kind of Democratic conspiracy is inane. He made the decision, now he needs to deal with the consequences. Much like the FBI investigation.

    Barbara,

Speaking of campaign literature. Why does Mr. Snow's campaign literature picture and quote several Dulles District celebs without securing their approval to use the pictures or the quotes?

Secondly, the Planning Commissioner is the second most ranking position within the district. It being the only paid position for a County "appointed" position. Why did Mr. Snow refuse to put your picture and your quote on his campaign literature? Is he embarressed to highlight your staunce loyalty to him? Is he hiding something? I would think he would want to highlight his hand picked line officers.

Candidates will be debating on October 13, from 7:00 to 9:30 at the Waddell theatre at the Northern Virginia Community College, both Snow and Miller have accepted and should be there. Questions are being taken by the Easterner Newspaper to pose to all candidates.

    Donna,

It's not really a debate it's a forum with 12 candidates from five districts there, it will be real hard for anyone to really explore issues indepth. The way I figure each candidate will get less than 10 minutes of speaking time assuming each candidate gets equal time.

Further, why isn't Mr. Snow outraged about the Loudoun Easterners lack of holding a debate amongst the Senate and Delegate races. After all this was the lame reason Mr. Snow choose to use when he chickened out of the Dulles District Debate. Why make an issue of it with a debate conducted by the LWV and not make an issue of it with the Loudoun Easterner?

Is there some reason my earlier comment was not posted?

AFGM, sorry for my choice of words, you are correct it is a forum with each candidate being asked questions that have been recieved by the editor of the Easterner. Each candidate will have 90 seconds to answer the questions. If they don't have a lot of questions that were receieved then each candidate will have more time to answer. What elaborate show are you planning for this one?

    Good question Donna,

Frankly it's a non-event on a Saturday evening. I think most people will have better things to do.

I don't think it is a Democratic conspiracy. There is an issue with a group of people who include Independents, two Democrats, and one Republican, and it is going to court.

The FBI "investigation" is based on a two year study of a blanket FOIA (requesting ALL correspondence, as opposed to correspondence in reference to a specific subject, and with specific individuals), that has turned up no charges, and several supervisors (including Snow) have been told they are clear. That was a fishing expedition for political purposes, but because the FBI does not respond to political pushes, they will not issue any public statement until the conclusion of the case.

There is one supervisor still under investigation, and it is interesting that only one supervisor is still using the FBI accusation, which can neither be officially proven or disproven until the case is officially closed.

Snow has appeared at three forums to date.

GM, Steve's response to that tack of yours is "When are you going to get over here and get your picture taken?" We attended an event together last week with Frank Wolf, and he indicated no embarrassment.

Funny, that's how you wrote off the Dulles business group forum--all those folks who pay persoanl property taxes and vote as residents, AND pay business taxes as well.

    Barbara,

Where did you get your degree in FBI protocols and procedures!?? On one hand you say the investigation has cleared several Supervisors and then on the other hand, one is still being investigated. Can I assume you've had tea with the FBI to confirm this information?

No one gets a "get outta jail free card" even after an investigation goes dormant. I agree with you the investigation is most likely still underway.

A "fishing expedition for political purposes", hahahahahaha. By whom? Who do you think hoodwinked the FBI into this effort? And if it was for "political purposes", why do you think they are waiting until after the election to issue a "public statement"? And why do you think it continues? My point, I don't think you know what you're talking about.

As for the forums Mr.Snow appeared at, is one you refer to the one he conveniently forgot to mention that he works for Dietz Construction? Or was it the one where no one knew about it, or was it the one where Miller shocked Snow. The one that Snow realized he had real competition?

    Barbara,

I didn't write off the Dulles Business forum, I took off work to attend. I speak from direct experience, I was there. I didn't see you there, what makes you an expert at this event other than being an apologist?

Why would I have to. He used other pictures and quotes without asking for permission, why wouldn't he use my picture and quotes without permission. As you know, Steve is probably better off making up quote from me than asking me for one.

Now I would think he'd get a glowing quote from you Barbara. Why didn't he ask you for one to use in his campaign? I'd think he'd want to highlight his hand picked executive officer. Don't take it personal Barbara, it's more a reflection on Mr. Snow and his deceptive campaign literature.

Would you like first crack at exposing the other lies on Mr. Snow's campaign literature? I'd like to be fair and offer you the first spin on the other things Mr. Snow took liberties on with his campaign rhetoric.

He appeared at the Chamber of Commerce, the NVBIA, and the DSBA. How you characterize them is up to you.

Sorry--I don't know how to use the quote feature well--my replies to specific quotes by GM are imbedded in my post 118.

GM, you did write off the DSBA forum as a bunch of developer cronies, and that opinion appeared on Leesburg2day as well. I would venture that you attended it to record it for tooconservative, as that is where your reviews appeared.

I only know of one question relating to Steve's literature, and it had to do with using a government photo. Scott York was the subject of a complaint in the last election about this, (someone said he shouldn't be using his government photo on his literature as it had been paid for with tax dollars) and the determination was that his photo was in the public domain.

I'm not going to play this with you, GM. If you really want to talk about lies on literature, let's talk about the current York mailer, where he appears with five Democratic candidates, but not Mrs. Randall. Strange, that an Independent running (again) as "the Real Republican" would appear with all (but one) of the Democratic hopefuls, and leave out the single Democratic incumbent.

The upper corner reads "Endorsed by the Loudoun Education Association, the Police Benevolent Association, and Voters for Loudoun's Future". This would seem to imply that the FLYER is approved by these groups, thereby implying that all six candidates pictured received all of those endorsements.

Actually, those are only Mr. York's endorsements. Steve Snow received the Police endorsement in Dulles, and some of the other candidates are receiving implicatory kudos there as well. All of the candidates on the flyer DID receive the VLF (VSS) endorsement, from this PAC that the LWV president stepped down over, but that being the case, why was not Mrs. Waters on the flyer either, as she received the VLF nod as well?
