Beetle season '07 has begun

Start checking your trees, shrubs, flowers, etc., everyone. Our '07 crop of Japanese beetles has arrived.

We milky spored last year, as did one of our neighbors, so I'm HOPING to see a significant reduction in the number of those ugly buggers.

 

You will - we milky spored three years ago and haven't seen one beetle yet this season and only a couple last year .....

 

I too had milky spore applied 3 years ago. I think the community should do it again for the homeowners who missed the chance to participate last time. I still find a grub or two here and there but the beetles are practically non-existant now. Gee, I hope I didn't speak too soon

 

I would agree on what a difference a few years make in what we've seen of the Japanese Beetles. I've only seen 3 so far this year, and one of those was dead already.

We've also been using Bayer Advanced in the spring on all our trees and that has really helped a lot. It's systemic and you only have to do it once a year.

Check out my thread on "Japanese Beetles..." for other helpful info. We had some beetles on some of plantings also. Used the tips I posted from some friends who found this info and it works great!
