I've created a page "Belmont Ridge Road Needs Traffic Lights" on Facebook. Please "like" the page and share with as many local friends and family members that you can. After witnessing one too many accidents yesterday, it's time we call for a change and sooner than later.

We have more than 650 followers in just over 24 hours.

Let's ban together to make this road safer for our community!

Two traffic lights will be coming soon: Truro Parish and Croson should both be in by the end of this year, or next year at the latest.

Thanks for info. Will Belmont also be 4 lanes from Greenway to Truro Parish? I see the construction on Belmont, but not sure how wide the road will be.

in the meantime they should figure how how to fund temporary lights or traffic direction to thru the end of the school year to deal with traffic back up turning onto BRR from Truro and Croson. it's only needed for the hour before school starts. can't cost THAT much... surely there are funds somewhere to cover it...

Not going to happen.....dealing with VDOT, the permanent solutions would be in place before a temporary one was actually done....and that's assuming VDOT would agree to a temporary one, which is highly unlikely.
Solution: Go to Broadlands Blvd where the light is and turn left. That's what my daughter does.

I like the non-lights at Croson and Truro. It is like a competition! Especially when I have my kids in the car!

I am having my daughter go the long way around. Out to the parkway, then Ryan, the Belmont.

I am all for safety, but please remember at some point, those less experienced drivers must learn how to handle intersections like these. Please take the time to teach them.
IMO, a scared driver can be just as bad as an aggressive one.

Sometimes even the most experienced drivers should avoid a dangerous intersection. I not only tell my teenager to avoid Truro/Belmont Ridge at that time of the morning, but do so myself. It's just not worth the risk to me to save the mileage.

"Sometimes even the most experienced drivers should avoid a dangerous intersection." Agree...
BUT, you could be somewhere someday where a detour is not an option.

Update. The Truro Parish light is planned to be operational this October or November.
The Croson light won't be until mid-2016.

cliff that IS what WE do. doesn't keep him from being at risk from an impatient driver turning from truro or croson or cochrans lock who misjudges how much timespace they have from pulling out and causing an accident.

Another update from the county about 4 lanes between Broadlands Blvd and Truro Parish:

The developer has indicated they will have the road open to traffic and the traffic signal at the intersection of Belmont Ridge Road and Truro Parish Drive be activated by August, 2016.
