We have upgraded Berber carpet in our basement. Even though it is supposed to be "top Quality" it is snagging easily everywhere. I am extremely dissapointed in the quality as I have never seen or heard that Berber snags. Does anyone have berber carpet issues like snagging and running?

    Thanks,
    Cooper

    Cooper-
My experience has been that yes, berbers do snag. It's also a quality issue: the cheaper the carpet, the more likely it will snag.

We are moving into Southern Walk this coming Spring/Summer but in our current home we have "upgraded" Berber in our basement. I will never buy this kind of Berber again. It stains quite easily and it frays as well. We had it replaced while still under the builder's warranty because it was so stained. While some Berber is great, I won't be swayed next time because it claims to be the upgrade.

Yes, I've had the same problem with my berber. I've lived in my new home since end of October, and I've got two bad snags, that have put runs in th carpet. Very disappointing!

Because most Berber is a continual loop carpet, a major snag will "run" across the carpet....ie: if a snag gets up in the rolling beater brush of your vacuum, it could be a mess.

On the other side of this discussion...I have berber in my family room...it was original install - nearly 4 years ago - and it still looks very good. No snags, no stains. It gets most of the traffic in the house. We did pay for "upgrade" through L&L Flooring...but I can't give details, sorry, on the make or grade. I do know, we have the best padding they offered..which can make a big difference on how your carpet wears over the years.

Now...I have my carpet professionally cleaned every year, and vacuum at least every other week or so. And it really just the two of us at home now. So, that probably makdes a big differece.
