I think we are going to see a number of restaurants in the Broadlands Shopping Center close. There are far too many than there are patrons, especially for the lunch crowd. It's too bad about the Steakhouse and don't think Clyde's is their direct competition, although Glory Days will certainly be a true competitor. They should try a Curbside to go service to enhance their carryout business, but that would be tough with the awful traffic flow and parking situation in that area of the shopping center.

They do have curbside service and have 2 parking spots reserved for pickup.

Saul Centers has put an application into the County to allow a right-in/right-out onto Claiborne Pkwy (presumably just north of Bonefish, but not to interfere with the Greenway entrance).

I don't know if it will be approved- I know VDOT had some serious issues with it.

Nonetheless, that might help the traffic situation for those entering from the South and those leaving to the North.

That was the main reason they didn't get one in the first place. I guess they figure with the light there it may make it easier to get that past VDOT.

It would be better if they went ahead and spent money to put a traffic light in at the entrance by the bank.

Even just an "IN" lane would make big difference.

I know Saul is trying to get approval fromn VDOT to put a right in, right out entrance off Claiborne arkway. The rumor about the Steakhouse sounds a bit suspect.

The Steakhouse rumor is NOT true. The manager there is very upset about this. They have no plans to close.

Glad to hear that the Steakhouse is not closing. It made no sense since they were always busy and serve pretty good steaks at a fair price.

That's good to hear, the area needs reasonably priced places to eat. That reminds me ... is Chipote open yet over on Ryan ??

On the rumor, I expect to start hearing that it Must have been a conspiracy by Clyde's to force them out of business ....

What about Bravo Pizza closing - was that a rumor as well?

They haven't even started breaking ground yet on the Chipotle. The Panera seems close to their grand opening. Outdoor furniture is already set up...

I spoke to BF Saul today and they are not aware of either restaurant threatening to close. From their perspective, everything is fine.

Been an interesting thread. While Ashburn Sports & Steak place has a very good steak (much better I thought than 321 ashland when it was open) the service at the steak house stinks....i have never had good service there. I for one can not wait for Clydes to open. Much rather pay more for good service than get ticked off at bad service.

just my thoughts at least...oh and Glory Days (if they have good service) sounds like fun too.

My 2 cents on Bravo....I think their sandwiches (especially their cheese steak!) and pizza are actually pretty good, much better than most of the others locally. I think they would do much better if they delivered. Other than that we've never had a bad meal there.

I've always liked Clyde's atmosphere and decor, but felt their food was lagging behind a bit... hopefully this Clyde's is a bit better that the others. we absolutely adore their Cinci-style chili though =)

The Steakhouse definitely won't be closing. The service fluctuates daily, but it is usually pretty good. I just feel bad for those Hostesses getting stuck at the door for hours on end. I don't understand them having to do that, I'm perfectly capable of opening the door myself.

Charlie Cook, Director of Operations at the Steakhouse, asked me to inform you that those rumors are absurd (too much perm lotion in the salon!????), and no, they aren't losing money and are going gangbusters. Why, he asks, would they put so much energy into the community involvement/schools, etc., that they have? They're here to stay...Clydes or no Clydes....

We went to the Steakhouse the other night (one of our favorite local places) and found out they've also expanded their kids menu. (Don't know when this happened, but we just noticed.) We'll be back soon so my daughter can try out the pizza, PB&J, or macaroni & cheese.
