If the towing company was duped (and it is possible), there should be phone records that could be pulled. Since the towing company wants to prove their innocence they probably would have no problem agreeing to their phone records being checked.

If it was a hoax by teenagers or by a neighbor in that street, then that should help find the person responsible.

Curious how it will all play out.

I think it is odd that Bodyworks claims it was responding to a call alledgely from the HOA. I am not familiar with the specific area where these cars were towed. Is there any possiblity that it's an area where cars tend to park on the streets and there might have been a disgruntled neighbor who could have called claiming to be from the HOA and requesting the cars be towed?

It also makes me curious what kind of report the Better Business Bureau has on Bodyworks as well.

That could be true. This was one of the streets mentioned on the "Abandoned Vehicle thread".

I just passed a flatbad tow truck on Cascades Parkway and the car it was towing had its license plates in tact.

    This is all very fishy.

Exactly! Why would you take the plates off for a HOA tow?

He says that he knew he was duped when he called back for more info during the second tow (my car) and got a lifeguard at the pool. Instead of putting the car back, trying to contact me, or contacting the police to try and fix his duping. He decided to tow it to his lot and let it sit there for 28 hours until the police showed up at his door.

Good job man, way to run a business!!

    2 + 2 = 4

Tags off + Holding car w/ no contact = Theft

I dont know who the neighbor was in the article but another neighbor who we put into contact with the police said he saw them take the tags off and that when the explorer was towed that there was a brown van being towed behind it (the brown van that was donated). Tow company says they towed no brown van and the donation company has not been reached yet to see who towed it. When officer spoke with that neighbor he then said oh well the brown van had no tags I could not see the explorer tags to know if they took theirs off. So whoever the guy was in the article, I need to speak with him so he can tell the officer that he saw whoevers car he saw with no tags on it.

Oh and supposedly there is no legal documentation (standard for all) required by loudoun county to tow a car. His documentation was a name and number scribbled on a peice of paper, apparently that is good enough for now in this county.

Are you going to sue him in civil court? I have the sinking feeling that the police aren't doing anything about this.

Oh I better not have to.

Police are still working, who knows how hard though. Apparently there are so many other things going on in Loudoun that are more important than cars being stolen.

Oh and the best part is that not only was my bumper scratched but the bottom plastic trim (lower lip spoiler) was ripped away in the middle. The bolts holding it on pulled through the bumper, and if its not repairable, they will be crapping themselves when they find out how much one is for my car. Bumper for a 11 year old car that went out of production 9 years ago, and I will not settle for non stock, non vw, or from a junk yard.

Have you got your insurance company involved? They will sue them for you if you make a claim. If not then you may want to lawyer up.

Keep us posted on what the police are doing. I just get the feeling this is getting ignored.
