Adjacent to our sidewalk and front light there is a HUGE spider and we watched it spinning its web tonight. Really cool, but scary too. The web is 1foot by 1 foot approx. We took some pics, video, and researched on the net about which one this could be. I wasn't able to spot a violin pattern, as many Brown Recluse spiders have. But it looks awfully close to what images we saw on the internet of the BR.

There is also another spider who lives in a web nest on a window sill during the day and at night comes out. We took a pic of this too.

I am a nature lover and would hate to see anything bad happen to these spiders. What are my options? Will the nature person come out and see these, maybe move them to the Nature Center?

Is the web an irregular maze of threads? Because a recluse doesn't spin your average web...they have only 6 eyes, and at the largest they are the size of a quarter including the legs. I think you would definitely see the violin marking if it were one. Plus, they are usually (note-USUALLY) found in out of the way corners (like a barn, not a doorway).
However, if you are still unsure, I'll come move it for you- I love a little danger!

Remember - if you have spiders you don't have roaches, flies, moths & crickets (which are surprisingly damaging!).

If the spider is large enough you also don't have solicitors, small children or stray cats. :p

Highly doubt it is a BR as they are small and, umm, reclusive! ;) Based on reports, they are either VERY rare in this area or non-existant.

The spider could be a Southern House Spider which is larger and often confused with a BR.

If you post a picture, I am sure we can ID it.

Until then, I would adopt the attitude Live and let live. The spider has no ill intentions toward you, and it deserves the same from you.

As previously posted, it eats things you probably don't want around you.

Besides some think that spiders are a sign of good luck

And some think that killing a spider brings bad luck
