As you all are aware we are making great strides in increasing our Neighborhood Watch program.

We have hired a security company that has helped to significantly decrease the amount of vandalism and loitering that was occuring. Because of resident feedback we have been able to focus patrol efforts to those isolated areas throughout the community that were being vandalized or were being used as drinking areas.

We have been posting updates and ideas on topics for meetings and we are creating a NW training program and packet to help ensure this program is successful in keeping our community safe and vandalism free.

We are now moving on to the next step in increasing this programs success by getting Block captains. Block captains would take a more active role and would be responsible for reporting back to their specific "blocks" or streets with some of the information that can not be posted on a public forum.

These captains would help to coordinate the resident patrolling efforts and would attend each NW meeting to be updated on what is happening and what outcomes we are seeing from our efforts.

Currently the NW holds meetings for the residents every 2 to 3 months. Block captain meetings may be more frequent depending on the activites that are occuring in our community.

If you are interested in becoming an active participant in this communities NW program please let me know. We are looking to have a "kick off" reception sometime in September/October to welcome new residents, discuss plans and of course have fun. I look forward to hearing from anyone that is interested in becoming a part of our team. Please email me at: Dmfortier@comcast.net or Dfortier@lh.org. Thanks again
