Did carry-out tonight around 6:30 and only 1 person in the place. He appeared to be a regular the way the staff treated him. He told me that they may last a month longer.
May not be high-end food but it is unique.

I have also heard that Bluz Brothers is most likely closing in the next couple months. Disappointing since we like barbecue!!

I have to say that I've never eaten at Bluz Brothers ... I absolutely disliked the Mexican restaurant that was there before and just never got around to going to Bluz Brothers after I found out it was run by the same people as the Mexican restaurant was.

It must be so difficult to be an Ashburn restaurateur. What typically happens to business owners when their restaurants close up? Do they generally declare personal bankruptcy? I heard that the former Cafe Rumi owner was going back to catering, and that's great that he had another option, but what about everyone else? Any stories out there?

I, too, have never eaten there, when I crave Barbeque, I either go to North Carolina Brothers in Old Ashburn, Famous Dave's in Sterling or make it myself. It is too bad it may close, but I tend to go to keep going to places where I know the food is good, hate taking a chance on the unknown and spend the $$. Not to say I won't try a new place, but as far as barbeque is concerned, I'm more picky, same with Mexican, hard to find really good ones for either.

The only problem I found with the place was consistency. The last time I ate there, it wasn't very good. My wife brought some take-out home a few days ago and it was DELICIOUS. I've noticed this lack of consistency since they opened.

The BBQ is OK, but the price paid is not worth it compared to the quality of the food. I'll wait until I go to the Outer Banks and stop at Pierce's BBQ outside of Williamsburg.

mediocre food, I agree but we've always had great service but then again we always were served by the same waitress each time.

it's a different STYLE of BBQ. i don't like the vinegar-y carolina style- i'd take famous dave's or red hot blue over that.

all restaurants have their issues, but lack of consistency kills a biz.

It's funny because done properly restaurants make a ton of money. Take Great American Restaurants for example. The opened Jackson's in Reston a year ago and the place has an hour wait six nights a week and is like a cash printing press. It all started with a small pizza(Fritzbeā€™s) restaurant in the burbs thirty years ago...

Very good food fairly priced with good service and a good location.

Yeah, I blame the Cashburn tax... which is pretty much why I'm done dining in Ashburn, except for Clyde's.

THAT'S why I always have to add "Devil's Spit" from Famous Dave's to Carolina Brothers BBQ! It's too vinegary and I prefer spicey!!

Isn't that funny?? There's a place right on RT 29 that we stop at whenever we go to visit my son who goes to UVA, it's called Jammin Joe's or Jimmy's, can't remember, but it's right past the light at RT 15 going south on 29, on the right, it's a little shack with outdoor eating and they only take cash Really good BBQ, however, I always take a bottle of Devils Spit with me when I know we're stopping there....that's all it needs! Give it a try some time, their beans are amazing! Yes - gotta have the slaw as well!

You mean Big Jim's, right? Used to be really good - haven't been there in forever...

As for Bluz Brothers, every time we go in there, they are always "out of something" be it chili or chocolate syrup for the kidlet's chocolate milk. The service has gone downhill fast too. We were last in there about a month ago and have decided not to return any time soon (maybe ever if they are closing).

No - it's not Big Jim's....I just looked it up on a menu we picked up last time we were there, it's called Jammin' Joe's BBQ. Try them out - they're open 7 days from 11am - 8pm.
