Did anyone else note that of the stories in this mornings "Living in LoCo" column, the top THREE were about Broadlands including the now famous "Swingers" thread?

I wonder how far off a feature article about us Semior Members is? I better start working out again. :p

    Kaosdad,

I just was walking from my sun room (where we were reading the Washington Post and howling) to the home office to let folks know. You must have had your coffee earlier than I did and beat me to the punch!

I really guess that Broadlands is on the map now. First, we have teenage sexcapades on Make-Out Mountain and then we have big stones marking swinging houses. What next?

On a sad note, it was a shame to see what the reporter said about all of the conversations being closed down, "Coe's inquiry was shot down pretty quickly by many who said it is just a rumor. Then the comments were shut down." It's true, but sad.

When you think about it, the LivinginLoCo blog is basically a regurgitation of all the "news" that happens on this forum and that the author hears about in Ashburn Farm (where she lives). I think it's interesting to read her take and see that the entire world cares about our community (if they link to it from the WaPo website). But it seems to show that news about Loudoun County is pretty slow when a forum can generate the top three "lead" stories.

    Just my $.02

Sex sells. Controversy makes it sell even more.

Thing is, I locked the thread because I thought sex swingers is not a topic that should be discussed on an HOA community website that children read. Others have different views, and the rules are not something 100% set in stone on where a line is drawn. At this point, as Mr Linux mentioned in the other thread, if you all want to discuss the whole subject further feel free to start up a new thread or discuss it here.

:bang: Does this mean we're starting an "Adults Only" section on the forums?

    Bingo.

The writer has got to write about something.. why not let other people drum up the topics for you.. seems like the common theme here.

That rumor was already several months old and long forgotten.

I think that it is kind of funny that the reporter thought that people would open up on a public forum about their sex lives. If (and Im saying if) there is a big swing populus in the b-lands I am sure that they are not gonna brag about it to a reporter for the "Living in LoCo" blog.

Actually, the reporter fishing for the info was from the Loudoun Times-Mirror. This rumor has been around for years and this topic has been broached at many a backyard bbq in the Farm.

I think the point of the blog is that her own research caused her to make a judgment call and not expose peoples personal choices.

But the reporter still thought that people were going to open up to her about something like "swinging". Might as well ask who does drugs, beats their spouse or is an alchoholic.

    broken,

Do you mean to lump swingers in with drug users and wife beaters? I don't think so, but I thought a clarification would be needed.

Personally, I prefer to let consenting adults make choices about their own bedroom activities and not pronounce moral judgments. Anyway, I doubt any of us would know whether our neighbors are swingers even though the HOA appears to know based on vacliff's post in the "one minute unlocked, next minute locked, and now unlocked" thread:

Gryphon, please keep your conspiracy theories to the Politics forum. If you have any questions about administration or policy of the forum, you can use the 'contact us' link at the bottom of every page of the forum.

    Thanks

Skull, Gryphon quite often requires clarification as he/she reads what he/she wants out of a post as it is more "convenient" for the spin that comes soon afterwards.

That and to complain to the admins if there is a possible moral breach.

I thought that radical left-wing tree huggers left the moralizing to us right wingers. [Edited by Admin].

Sheesh - all I did was start an innocnet little thread about how Broandlands IS the center of the universe and y'all go twisting up into an offshoot of the politics forum.

    Good grief.
